SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

and by the time Urban Meyer got to his 3rd year in Columbus he won a NC with his 3rd string QB
And also set a record for the amount of players that he put in the NFL in that 3 year span

At what point do we say the TTUN program is dead and headed towards Nebraska status
It'll take a long time to realize that because of their historic past, and the love affair that the media has with them. I'd compare them more to ND. Both historically legendary teams, that are stuck in the past and hiring big name coaches to hold on to relevance and doing whatever publicity stunts to keep recruiting at a high level(Jordan brand, traveling overseas to play games and to go on vacation, etc). Both will still get kids, but the days of them competing for an NC may be over with. Especially if Harbro leaves(which is bound to happen pretty soon, with the lost to "little brother" and an eventual 4th straight loss to the Buckeyes and Meyer) and if/when Kelly is canned. But idk who is the "next savior" in line at both programs if Kelly and Harbro can't get those programs over the hump, they're both fool's gold. Ol Jimmy can jump off all the diving boards, hold sleepovers, climb trees, give "wacky" interviews, travel to different countries, throw all the headsets he wants, but at the end of the day he is paid to win games, and more importantly beat his rivals and win NCs and conference championships. He has done none of these things, he's just used smoke and mirrors, and allowed Don Brown to buy him some time.

When media stops giving them September Heismans and they drop out of preseason Top 25s ?
Not that the media determines things... but that sort of cultural attitude goes hand-in-hand with how the HS recruits are thinking. Becomes very hard to recruit when you slip to that level.
The media is definitely to blame for keeping scUM on the minds of the public. I cringe every time I watch a show about CFB and they mention the top coaches(Meyer, Saban, Sweeney, etc) and always seem to mention Harbro, like he has won on the same level as the others. Regardless of what was done on the field, that keeps them relevant and on the minds of recruits and the public in general. Going into this season, there were people willing to argue that scUM wouldn't have a major dropoff, and they're in the same position as OSU last year(WRONG). There were people willing to bet that Harbro would get them to an NC within 2-3yrs(WRONG again). I, and many on this site saw Harbro as a stopgap, and that he was gone within 5yrs once his schtick got old. And the same people who wrongly predicted him bringing them to the promised land, also wrongly predicted that Urban would leave OSU...

I remember Tony Kornheiser performing fellatio on air to him a couple years ago. Basically predicting he would take over the B1G. Fuck the both of those assclowns
I remember almost every sports media talking head doing the same when Harbro was hired, and continued it up until this year.
Harbro's entire act is smoke and mirrors and crazy antics to make up for lack of coaching acumen. He riles up a fan base and players in year 1, makes some progress with previous coach's players and his "tough nose style". In year 2 he makes a leap forward and fools the fan base and players into thinking they're a national force(and his master plan almost worked last year until an Iowa meltdown and defensive breakdown in Columbus). By year 3 his act begins to wear thin and everyone involved starts to get tired of Harbro and his antics, and he in turn gets tired of the people who are tired of his antics. He starts to become such an annoyance that he is wanted to leave, and he abides and moves. Rinse and repeat, some NFL team would love to have him coach and be their brand of idiot for a few years(I'm sure the Bungals would love to have him over the indifferent, "I'm here to show up and get a check" style of Marvin Lewis), as I'm sure there is a list of teams in CFB that would love him as well(Tenn, Ole Miss, LSU, etc)
