SimPLLLLLLLe Jim "6-13" Harbaugh (B1G Suspenders McKhakiPants, Cheater Cheater Booger Eater)

Michigan didn't foot the bill for this. A booster did, which makes it even more outlandish that they allowed it.

Speechless. Let's see if booster boy drops another million after Jimmy gets his stool pushed in this November. What is it with UM and Notre Dame that just when you think they can't go any lower with their next coach, they somehow manage to go out and find a worse guy.

I really don't have a problem with it.

If they want to go spend their spring tip toeing the fuck about Europe while the Buckeyes grind, then by all means.

As far as it being a recruiting advantage; I think you have to look at the kind of kids "springtime in Paris" appeals to and the kind of kid that "let us prepare you for the NFL, if you are alpha male enough for it" appeals to.

Can't the ncaa step in and bar this crap. There's maybe only ten schools in the nation that can afford this. Even the majority of P5 schools would probably want it barred.

Just to put it in perspective, tsun could pay for about 50 full tuition scholarships for Michigan residents with the money Jimmy is wasting on these junkets, which anyone with the slightest bit of brain activity knows is all about getting a recruiting advantage.
IIRC several years ago the NCAA put a limit on the size of media guides schools could put out. It was considered an unfair advantage for the wealthier schools who could afford to put out huge professional documents. OSU ended up breaking theirs into two pieces (a media guide and a yearbook or something like that).

What I would question here is the ability of non-football playing students to join the trip. Hasn't that been an issue in the past? That athletes can't have access to anything the general student body does not have access to?

Yup... pretty much. Man, I loved me some steak dinners at the training tables.

So, let me see if I understand this...If a booster privately paid for one kid to take a trip to Europe, that would be an NC2A violation for receiving improper benefits, but if the booster pays for the whole damn team, then, no problem?

105 female student athletes need to file a title IX lawsuit and demand their million in overseas funding.

Correction, it's a violation if the booster buys them a meal at red Robin, because said booster would not buy that meal for Regular Joe studying Biology.

But a cool 4-5k each for a cushy international trip and trumped up set of practices ? Totally legal

Which is sadly consistent with the farce of the NCAA. Hopefully none of the players tried to post a Europe video with ads where they earned $2. Then there would be hell to pay

I got to go on a summer trip to Europe with my college basketball team to play in a few tournaments over there. Was easily one of the most memorable experiences of my life, taking that trip with best friends while in college. I will admit, however, that I was in to the tip toeing around Europe () aspect of the trip.

I don't find fault with Michigan at all here if they cleared it with compliance, which I'm sure they did. Although I do think Jax had a good point in questioniong whether we'd want the recruits that are swayed by the trip. As others have pointed out, the issue here in my IMO is with the NCAA.

Yup, agree on all counts. I can't think of a better experience to have as a college kid than a small Euro-tour... but I'll be damned if it should happen during spring ball. I recognize these kids have a lot on their plates, but considering the value-exchange between the school and the players... I think that it's fair to ask the kids to be focused on a) school and b) football during fall and spring.

Hairball after another loss to tOSU and Meyer: "Doesn't matter, went to Rome."

If I was skilled at Photoshop (or Paint), I'd slap Jimmy's face over Bobby Petrino's in that famous press conference after the volleyball-player-affair-motorcylce-wreck
