Should semipro/college players be paid, or allowed to sell their stuff? (NIL and Revenue Sharing)

It's hard for me to wrap my head around just how out of touch with reality the NCAA is.

The subject of organizational entropy should never be taught anywhere without using them as a case study.

It's incredible.

On the contrary, amending your rules to match your descent into the abyss is maybe rational?

Yeah, I guess on a certain level it is.

Maybe not in terms of survival but in terms of what is real inside the NCAA's bubble, this kind of thing probably does make a lot of sense.

Like a Titanic officers meeting to discuss the sever lack of dress code discipline since the news of the iceberg hit. You just cannot operate a ship with unpolished buttons on uniforms.

Schools and governing bodies need the ability to preserve fair competition, protect student athletes from exploitation, and ensure that programs across the country can survive.-Ted Cruz

:slappy:

I mean how do you not burst into flame at some point when you say shit like this?

The NCAA is going to protect student athletes from exploitation by getting anti trust exemption so they can continue to do the exploiting?

The SEC, or at least Georgia, is threatening to take their ball and go home. They seem more than willing to break away and play their own game. Smart’s :slappy: comments about the SEC title game being for the national championship (second :slappy:) aside, it’s a giant gamble to return to a regional sport (talk about wanting to go back to the good old days). I don’t think they quite realize that yes, they have their rabid fans of course, but the only reason they make the money they do is as many people tune in rooting against them as do to root for them. They need both to keep the kind of cash flow they seem to take for granted.
