From looking at that, can you determine just why he was given 5 stars? Am I missing something? Seems odd to get so much hype with what I would not consider out of the world stats.

I, for one, think he is worthy of all his stars and I cannotfuckingwait for his skills to take the field for your team. It should prove to be quite exciting.

Are you referring to these stars?

The answer is simple. He has very good arm strength. He also does well in a 7 on 7 camp setting. The problem is just like in the AAG when the pads go on and the whistle blows in a real game people are trying to take your head off...heck he got planted at the 50 in that game.

Its easy cheesy to show off and arm when there is no pressure...

He may be a 5 star in shorts but he's no better than a 3 star live in real game situations.

Didn't he only do well in half of his camps? It took him like three events to make it to Elite 11. I think Barrett beat him out at one.

In 7 on 7, he probably faced a two deep zone or man where the middle backer bailed at the snap giving him five seconds to throw. Those tournaments are better for your defense IMO.

Stats can also make a player look better because of the system they are in.

Will see what happens on the field, it's hard to judge how a guy will do in college based on stats from HS.

Did Shane have a good OL in HS? How were his receivers? Did they drop a lot of balls? Did they have a good running game?

A system can produce a 5 star QB and a system can turn a 5 star into a 3 star QB.

There are those QB's who just have that special talent like Braxton, Cam, Devin and Pryor who can carry a team with their talent alone. Being they are good with their feet and can make plays happen.

Shane has the ability to be good QB in Michigan's pro style system, will see what happens.

He also has the ability to be an epic failure which is supported by at least as much evidence as any that supports him being any good.

Thereis no pressure in the face of the QB...he doesn't have to run and throw. If a QB can just stand there and throw it can make him look good if he has a big arm. Those camps are fine but when the pads go on and 260 LB DE are coming after you its a different ball game.

He played on a quality team in regards to Michigan high school standards. I've seen a lot of Michigan fans excuse the poor numbers based on the talent he played with, but his teams always stayed competitive score-wise in Michigan.

I guess I could see that excuse working if he was only bad in games against out of state competition. His numbers are just flat out bad in general though.

I've always heard he lit up the 7 on 7 drills and passes the famous Herbstreit "look test". We'll see if that translates to anything at the next level.
