SG Walter Offutt (Asst. BBall Coach Toledo Rockets)

It's gonna be tough for Sampson to sway either one, considering he can't recruit off-campus or call recruits until next June.

However, Sampson is allowed to text and email recruits asking them to call him, and he is also allowed to speak to these kids on a phone call as long as it was initiated by an assistant, who can then hand him the phone. Still not too worried.

If anyone gets a chance, Offutt and his high school team will be participating in the tOSU basketball camp this weekend at the Schott.
The camp starts today (6/16/06)

Games are open to the public and will be held in the Value City Arena, the two auxiliary gymnasiums at the Schottenstein Center, the recreation center known as the RPAC and also St. John Arena.

Offutt played in all the games at the tOSU camp this past week, his team finished 6-1. Walter is still rehabing his knee and is still having problems with his full range of motion. Due to his ongoing rehab, he will not be participating in most of the events in July. This article pretty much kills any rumors of Kelvin Sampson trying to keep Offutt in Indiana. :wink2:

Offutt is currently listed as the #5 shooting guard in the 2008 class. Offutt had a chance to spend some time with the other Buckeye verbals and the staff. Walter says his knee is close to 100% but he is still mentally getting through the injury. Offutt is concentrating on improving his speed, development and shooting.

Video review: Looks good coming off screens and has the quickness to get by defenders off the dribble.

Walter had 18 last night

Hello,my first post but I've been lurking for years. I had to rep Walter as I live in Indy and graduated from Warren Central.

He had his fist game last night @ Marion h.s(Zach Randolf's former school),I didn't see it but from the box score he seemed to be more assertive than last year. Unfortunatley, only one other guy helped him out in the scoring department last night in a tough loss.

Marion 60
Warren Central 56

Walter Offutt 18 points,5 rebounds,3 assists. After Offutt,Jones had 15 but after that they didn't get much help. Warren actually has another game tonight at home vs Perry Meridan. A game I would attend if this wasn't such a great sports day. However, I definitly intend on getting to most of his home games, and giving occasional updates and thoughts. I look for him to have a more than solid junior year.

One more thing about Walter,he is still growing :) . I wouldn't be suprised to see him near 6'4 by the time he gets to Columbus.

Sticking with Ohio St.

Despite getting feelers from new Indiana University coach Kelvin Sampson, Warren Central junior Walter Offutt said he isn't going to waver from his oral commitment to Ohio State.
"I'm 100 percent going to Ohio State," Offutt said after leading the Warriors (3-1) to a 61-56 victory over Gary West. "I love the coaches. I love the program.
"I'm very excited to be a part of the program. It's going to be unbelievable to be there in a couple years. It's all about the team and that's what you're seeing there now."
