SG Mark "The Shark" Titus (Official Thread)

Thump;1668140; said:
Yeah, not sure if that was intentional or not.

The Shark tore his "labrum."

A "labia" is part of a woman's vaheena.
Titus was the one that mentioned his labia tear back on Jan 28, and since it's Titus, everyone should have already figured out the joke.

Club Trillion: Two Week Rollercoaster

...

My dismal feeling continued the day after the Vikings loss, because I had to get an MRI on my injured left shoulder. I originally injured my shoulder over a month ago in practice when Dallas Lauderdale realized the he hadn't injured me in awhile and decided he'd do something about it. (Some of you might remember Dallas messing up my foot last year, forcing me to sit out 12 weeks.) Our team doctor informed me that I probably had a slight tear of my labia, but when I typed "labia tear" into Google, all that showed up were inappropriate pictures of women. Whatever the case, I reinjured the same shoulder in a recent game against Northwestern, which prompted the doctor to call for an MRI.

The way it was explained to me (not by the doc, but by other people who I thought knew what they were talking about) was that an MRI is basically an x-ray, but for muscles and ligaments instead of bones. Because of this description, I went into the MRI thinking I was going to slap a lead apron on my jewels, get a few snapshots taken, and be on my way. Nope. As anyone who has ever had an MRI knows, it was one of the most physically uncomfortable things I've ever had to do in my life. I was strapped down to a table, shoved into an enclosed space, and was told that I couldn't move for the duration of the MRI or I'd mess everything up. They told me the test would take 30 or 40 minutes, even though it took well over an hour. It was easily the most uncomfortable I've been since a first date I went on a year ago ended with me offering my routine goodbye high-five and my date laughing at me (she probably only went on the date because she lost a bet). Anyway, the MRI showed that I tore my labrum (that's probably what the doctor meant to say earlier), which might force me to miss the rest of the season. Because I'm a senior, this means that it's probably a career-ending injury but because I'm a walk-on, it's hard to say my career ever really started in the first place. Either way, my days of moisturizing people's faces with my ultra-wet jumpshot certainly seem like they might be over. (In an Ohio State uniform anyway. In two years I'll be putting up 20 and 10 a game as I dominate a church league near you.)

Did anyone else almost ding Thump for that pathetic display? :wink2:

All kidding aside, when Shark was shown walking with his framed jersey and ready to bawl, the room I was watching the game in got really quiet, frogs were gathering in the throat, and then... it was like ahem, gonna miss that silly mujjafujja... helluva Buckeye

Helluva Buckeye! Way to go out with a Tril

A trillion? Pshh. How about 12? - College Basketball Nation Blog - ESPN

Ohio State super-scrub Mark Titus culminated a brilliant home career with one final trillion Tuesday night. Titus has made the trillion a more popular statistic than free throw rate, but for those unfamiliar, a trillion is registered when a scrub gets in for the final minute of the game but fails to make any other statistical impact during that game. The player ends up with a 1 in the minutes column and 13 zeros across the board. How Titus came up with this is beyond me, but it's pretty awesome -- the true test of how scrubariffic your team's last walk-on really is.

Still, there are rules here. You don't want to be racking up trillions in any way, shape or form. Too many minutes in the game without a single statistical record and you become less an oddity and more of a detriment. Which is why Iowa's Devan Bawinkel might have a little shame spiral action this morning. As noticed by Black Heart Gold Pants, Bawinkel posted a trillion -- in 12 minutes. 12 trillion!

Bawinkle's 12 trillion not any sort of record.

Stats question for Lax - Hawkeye Lounge

The 12 trillion by Winks is the longest by a Big Ten player this season by five minutes.

It is tied for the second-longest by any Division I player this season. Jeff Georgatos of Harvard had a 13 trillion earlier this season against Princeton.

Since 1996-97, the longest by any Hawkeye is 12 trillion. Winks has now done it twice in his career (also 1/24/2009 vs. Penn State). The other Hawkeye to accomplish this is Kurt Spurgeon on 1/10/2004 against Northwestern.

Since 1996-97, the longest by any Big Ten player is 14 trillion by Nate Pomeday of Northwestern on 1/17/1998 against Wisconsin.

Since 1996-97, the longest by any Division I player is a 31 trillion (!) by Elvis Robinson of Mississippi Valley State on 1/3/2001 against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Follow up comments are golden:

- I am still trying to figure out the 31 trillion. You have to luck yourself into a rebound or even a turnover.

- I think you have to actually run away from the ball.

- 31 statless minutes? Im sure [Lickliter] is calling to see if he has any eligibility left

OK, getting a trillion is cool. Getting a 12 trillion is just sad. Getting a 31 trillion? I think that comes back around to being pretty freakin' awesome. I mean, you have to really TRY.

It kinda reminds me of HS. My best friend was a bench player and we'd pay him to foul out as fast as he could. Getting ejected didn't count - it had to be five personal fouls. He could do it in about 2 minutes if he really applied himself. It all came to an end though when the coach kicked half the guys off the team his senior year which left him as a starter. We didn't want to pay him for points or rebounds or any of that crap.

The Journey is one of the coolest shows out there.

Great insight to the league and its players, coaches, personnel, fans, etc.

Surprised at how fast the turnaround for production is as well. It's a great recap on the week in Big10 Hoops.
