RBK U - Sunday Night Session

draftexpress
Lost in the Howell hype in game two was William Buford's (Toledo Libby/Toledo/2008 - committed to Ohio St.) performance. He matched Howell's total of 23 points and did it in a variety of ways including hitting 3-of-6 from deep. His shot mechanics are very good and he elevates on his shot very nicely making him very difficult to block. He looks be the next in a long line of successful shooting guards to go through Columbus following the footsteps of Jimmy Jackson, Michael Redd and Daequan Cook.

RBK U - Day One - Morning Session Games

For team Yao, William Buford (Libby H.S., Toledo, OH) lived up to the Rip Hamilton comparisons. He never stopped moving the entire game, always looking for a screen to run off of. Unlike Rip, Buford only hit on 6-of-16 attempts from the floor, but did lead his team with 14 points. Finishing a close second in scoring to Buford was another 2008 swingman by the name of Darius Miller (Mason Co. H.S., Maysville, KY) who is drawing strong interest from nearly every team in the SEC, most notably Kentucky. He finished with a solid 13 points on 4-of-7 from the field.

It was a never-ending sequence of torture. Day after day, William Buford Jr. headed to the park across the street from his Toledo, Ohio, home to play basketball. He always returned distraught an hour later.
"Playing with the older people, they used to always push me around," Buford said. "They used to make me go home crying. . . . My brother [Ryan Rayford] used to also send me home crying."

Eight years later, he is the one upsetting people.

The article mentions Buford as being "well-spoken and likeable." Besides that, I find it intriguing that a Philly paper would write a few paragraphs about an Ohio kid who isn't even going to school anywhere in Pennsylvania. He must have caught some people's attention while he was out there in Philly.

Heck yeah. I'm getting more and more excited about watching William play. He seems to be the real deal. I've read nothing but good things about him.

He's definitely proven to be the real deal at the HS level in the last 12-18 months. Count me in as anxiously waiting for his arrival in the 'Bus.
