For selfish reasons (Go Bucks!) I would like to see him come back. But I hope he makes the best long term decision for himself and his family. I would have to think that DT ending up in Paris instead of the NBA will factor into his decision. I don't know how much of a factor, but I imagine it will be considered. Just hope he finishes his career at tOSU strong, whether its 1 more game, or 6 more games, or an entire additional season after this one.

i would posit that playing yourself into a 1st round nba pick, which with it carries a guaranteed contract for at least 2+ years that far exceeds anything he could hope to make in europe. for example, archie goodwin, the second to last pick in the 1st round last year, has two years fully guaranteed at about $1.1 million. that is far and away more than you'll ever make in europe. and of course, there's the whole issue of moving your entire family and baby to a different continent.

so, if there was little to no chance of elevating your draft stock from a mid 2nd rounder to the 1st round, I'd say go ahead and leave. that isn't the case with Ross. If he improves further and averages say 18+ppg and shows more consistency mid range and improves his rebounding, defense, and post play, he'll be a fringe lottery pick next year.

Oh, I agree with all this, and think it will be best for everyone if Ross comes back... but you just never know what factors are going to weigh most heavily in these young men's decisions to stay or leave early. Unfortunately the NBA draft seems to consider completing your eligibility at a major program to be a stigma for potential 1st-rounders.

On an unrelated note, I came across this while looking at recent senior draftees:

Mason [Plumlee] started 11 of the team's first 13 games in the 2010–2011 season, 3 of which he recorded double doubles in points and rebounds. For the season, he was averaging 7.5 points, 8 rebounds, 7 flops, and 1.5 blocks per game to help man the paint for the defending champion Blue Devils.

i'd say that stigma applies to guys being picked in the top 5 or so. outside of that, it's nowhere near as big an issue.

I don't know how old his daughter is, which to me is the most important aspect of whether I think he will come back or not. I was told by someone close to the team that he had a young daughter, but I didn't ask for specifics so I don't know if she's 4 years old or 3 months old. All I was implying was that having a child (and whatever the age of his child is) could be a factor.

His daughter looks to be 3-4 years old from pictures but I'm no expert. (yes I'm creepy)
