SF LaQuinton Ross (Memphis Hustle - NBA G-League)

Cannot really see how staying at tOSU one more year will improve 'Q's draft status. He was a marked man, and losing (now) three potential shooters (Craft, Smith and DlaV), will let other teams double and triple team him (unless some freshmen come in and tear it up). And betting on new faces to score seems like very low odds to me. So, can understand and side with Q on a 'go pro' decision. His D will NOT improve much (not that the NBA plays D anyway), and lowering his percentage of makes will lower his draft stock. Plus, unless we get that #2 big for next year, tOSU will still be a doughnut team (nothing in the middle). Pretty sure Q won't make NBA (if Lighty and Diebler are in Europe then ?), but maybe play ing in the D league or Europe will help him eventually. Hope so. Always wish the best for Buckeyes, past, present and future. Go Bucks

Russell, KBD, and Kam can score the ball. Loving will get better. If we can find a big man and Ross did return we would be a title contender

You cannot count on 3 guys who have never played a minute of college basketball, Loving (who had a few good games this year and then disappeared once big 10 play started), Scott, Thompson and Amir, even with Ross, to bring you a National Championship. That is not a NC supporting cast. What UK did a few years ago and what Oden, Conley, and Dequan accomplished at OSU in their only year (contended for one) is not the norm. The only other team I can remember having that much success with the majority of their point production coming from freshmen was Syracuse with McNamera and Melo. And I don't see anyone of the caliber of Conley, Oden, Jerry, Melo or any of UK's freshmen that all were one and dones on this team (maybe Russell eventually). As long as this team has Amir as the starting Center and still being without any proven shooters on the perimeter, you can expect a middle of the pack Big 10 season and a bubble entry or early round exit. Sorry, I just don't see it.

Shooters leaving such as Craft, LZ, and Delle Valle........what! Like a few others have said in this thread Q would have been a mid first round pick had he stayed next year and just played on the level or a little worse of the last 7 games he had and improved on a few things.

Russell coming in is a 5 star and KBD too on most sites. Tate is an upper 4 star. Next years class on paper is the best we have had since 2010 or longer. If you add Kam to that list here would have been our team

Scott(Sr) Russell, Sam(Sr), Ross (Sr), Amir(Sr)

KBD, Loving, Kam, Tate, Trey

Not like we are depending on all freshman. I think people will be surprised how much more effective Scott can be with outside shooters surrounding him. That lineup above would have been a top 5 lineup IMO with a solid but young bench. Still has great potential without Q but we will once again struggle against bigger teams that can run with us unless Myles decides to come play :pimp:

This team could be in some trouble next year.

I don't understand why there is this theme in basketball for kids to leave whenever they feel like it. A 4 year player is getting rare. There are so many one and dones and 2 and done. 3 years is turning into a long time. But what kills me is MOST of the players leaving early aren't going to make it in the nba. Do they think they can make it, or do they just go into school expecting to be leave after a year that staying for 4 years is too painful. It's not like the nfl where those leaving after 3 years typically make it and most stay for 4. The nba is so much more difficult to make. You'd think they would want to get themselves the best shot. This seems like a big culture problem. I don't see Ross making it in the nba. Just being realistic.
