SF LaQuinton Ross (Memphis Hustle - NBA G-League)

Ironic that the play that saved the win yesterday against the Badgers was excellent defense by both Aaron Craft and (gasp) LaQuinton Ross.

Matta expected Wisconsin point guard Traevon Jackson to take the final shot ("What has he had, like 19 game winners in his three years here?”). Ohio State put its best defender, Craft, on Jackson and had Ross help on the left side. Jackson, with nowhere to go, eventually passed to Dekker, whose off-balance shot caromed off of the rim.

"LaQuinton did a phenomenal job keying the gap, not letting him get back to his left hand," Craft said. "It's knowing the scouting report. And closing out well on Dekker. A lot of the credit's got to go to Q. I just tried to keep him in front. LaQuinton did the rest."

Sorry for the late response but you really do not think that 67% is just below par but not awful. 11 out of the 12 teams In the Big Ten shoot better than 67% from the free-throw line.

6-for-6 yesterday, while the rest of the team was 6-for-12.

Glad Q regained his stroke from the line yesterday. He was also 6-for-6 against Penn State, but only 10-for-20 in the three previous games. He shot 85% his freshman year, so he's capable ...

Not quite sure why Deo is only a 62% shooter, but as he gets more PT he needs to find a way to improve that.

Q has been putting up some eye popping stats down the stretch. I don't think we quite appreciate fully what he is doing because of the inconsistency of this team and him earlier in the year. If we make it to sweet 16 and he keeps playing like he is I think he might be gone.

He has some great moves to the basket but he has to keep from losing control a bit. He needs to get a little sharper on his J and find a mid range shot before he goes pro. Definitely needs one more year, imo.

• LaQuinton Ross has become far more aggressive - he's scored at least 19 points in six straight games – and said he's found comfort in putting Ohio State on his back.

"It's NCAA Tournament time. That's what I have to do," Ross said. "I know this team needs me to score, so I have just been aggressive, tried to drive more, because I know when I get to the rack I will either finish or draw a foul."

I hope his recent play doesn't convince him to forego his next season. DT needed another year, and so does Ross.
As much as I would like to see DT in Scarlet & Gray this year, I'm really not sure how much good another year would have done when it came to his draft status. I do believe, however, that another year could really benefit Ross. He develops a lot more consistency and his stock would go up.

I agree Ross has a broader set of skills, but another year wouldn't have hurt DT one bit. France would've always been there.

DT wouldn't have gained anything basketball wise staying another year. He wanted to support his family and even if he stayed he would have been in France a year later. Ross is a different scenario though bc I think he can make an NBA team (bench) next year based on his skill set and room to improve. We should be a title contender if he stays next year with the way he is playing now and adding that recruiting class

Not to mention the paycheck in France is probably in the high 6 figure or low 7 figure range.
