Actually, Wallace went to Hargrave Military Academy which is a prep school, so he is a true freshman with 3 years left.

Good to see he has patience. Obviously his athletic ability is a gift from above. It's good to see he's going to stick out. 4 years players that take time to develop are good for depth, leadership purposes.

I can see Eric being a Corey Maggette-esque player. Both are SUPERIOR athletes and a decent jumper. If Eric can play defense... he'll get PT.

Wow is right, I think Wallace will develop into a nice player, guess he didn't want to chance not getting much playing time in the meantime, think he could have helped at the four some next year, assuming KK leaves.

Ohio State men's basketball coach Thad Matta announced Wednesday that freshman Eric Wallace has asked to be released from his scholarship and will transfer to another school.

Wallace will complete his spring quarter academic coursework before leaving the program.

Wallace, a 6-5 forward from Winston-Salem, N.C., completed his freshman season with the Buckeyes in 2007-08. The product of Hargrave Military Academy appeared in 15 games for Ohio State, averaging 1.8 points and 1.3 rebounds a game.

"Eric is a tremendous person and student-athlete," Matta said. "We are thankful for his contributions to our team this past year. We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
