The 'star' rating system hasn't been around that long, but I would put Lucas and Havlicek up there with any other combo.

Damn, you're still talking over a decade before I was even born! As far as my first-hand Buckeye exposure, we've never had this kind of hype around B-ball recruiting.

BN44820 was right on the money as David is only planning two visits, tOSU and Syracuse, but he is also considering visits to Michigan and Arizona. He considers distance and playing time as big considerations in his decision. David is very impressed with Coach Matta, who was at his school yesterday to speak with him. Lighty began his rehab two weeks ago and is anxious to get back in action.

I would have to think distance and playing time are in our favor. I would put our chances of landing him at about 70%.

PT and location are 2 big factors.

hmmm, osu is closest in proximity, and he will probably play the 3 spot, which will have no returning starter in 2006 as sullinger will be gone. That's quite convenient for osu given lighty's decisionmaking priorities isnt it?

Michigan Coach Tommy Amaker has been racking up the frequent flyer miles visiting recruits during the April contact period. Ms. Lighty was asked about her impression of Thad Matta and she stated she noticed how passionate he is for his school. He talked about the vision he had for David at Ohio State. She really noticed how excited he was to be talking to them. David Lighty said that his visit with Thad Matta went well too. David felt Matta was very excited to be talking to him and he talked about the staff and where he wants to take the program. Lighty said he really enjoyed him and his visit.
He did acknowledge being suprised about how hard Amaker was recruiting him which he said was a good thing.

Likely game with Dayton Dunbar will showcase Cook, VASJ star Lighty

The Villa Angela-St. Joseph boys basketball team will be one of the favorites to make a trip to the Schottenstein Center in Columbus next March for the state final four.
Whether the Vikings are in Columbus or not in March is uncertain, but it looks like the team will be making a trip to the Schottenstein Center in January for what will be one of the most highly anticipated high school games in Ohio next season.
VASJ coach Dave Wojciechowski said it is a "95 or 97 percent" done deal the Vikings will play Division II powerhouse Dayton Dunbar at Value City Arena at the Schottenstein Center on the campus of Ohio State University on Sunday, Jan. 15.
Details are being worked out, including the time of the game. The OSU women are playing that day, so it is not known now if VASJ and Dunbar will play before or after the Buckeyes.
The game will match the two top seniors in Ohio - VASJ swingman David Lighty and Dayton Dunbar's Daequan Cook.
It could also be a potential matchup of future Ohio State Buckeyes. Cook, the top-rated junior in Ohio, verbally committed to play at OSU in late March. Lighty, the second-rated junior in the state, has not yet made his college commitment, but the Buckeyes are among his top two or three choices.
Dayton Dunbar advanced to Columbus last year and lost in a state semifinal to eventual Division II champion Upper Sandusky. VASJ made the Division III elite eight, but fell to Loudonville, 55-50. Lighty was forced to watch that game from the bench with a torn ACL.
The matchup with Dayton Dunbar rounds out an impressive non-conference schedule for VASJ for the 2005-2006 season. The Vikings will host St. Edward and Euclid, travel to Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary and play three games at the elite STOP-DWI Classic in Binghamton, N.Y.
This game will be very interesting considering Cook has already verbaled to OSU and in my opinion Lighty will be the next verbal. :wink2:

Arizona was reportedly in to visit Lighty over the past few weeks. Ohio State and Syracuse are most likely the teams to beat.

Per Lamb on BN...

Expect Lighty to make a decision before the end of June. OSU and Syracuse will get visits and possibly Arizona and Michigan.

I still believe he is 70% OSU.
