Yep, when the FBI gets involved and snake coaches are no longer able to pay for players, maybe then.....One of these years, we'll get an in-state, five star combo forward to commit to the good guys....

When I saw that North Carolina was sniffing around his door I kind of wrote him off, but this is excellent news and keeps the positive mojo rolling.

YES! This commitment is definitely a statement for CH and the program, and likely the biggest get for CH thus far. Hopefully Gaffney will help build a stellar '19 class and start a trend of top-flight Ohio players staying in-state. Awesome stuff.

I have probably watched more videos on Alonzo than any other basketball recruit and I cannot say that I have seen any much better. He can do it all on a basketball court and he can bring Meechie and Sonny, Jr. with him in a few years. In the meanwhile

this is so major on so many level. this is a boost for our 2019 recruiting, our Ohio recruiting, our recruiting in general. what an incredible kick-off to our 2019 class, and a definite raw talent/potential upgrade to our forwards.
I have to give massive props to Holtmann and how he prioritized Gaffney and coach Sonny Johnson from the moment he took the OSU job. because it paid off.

WHAT ALONZO GAFFNEY'S COMMITMENT MEANS FOR OHIO STATE BASKETBALL
When Chris Holtmann was introduced as Ohio State's next head basketball coach, it was obvious that one of his first orders of business would be recruiting the Buckeye state hard.
"We're going to work extremely hard to close our borders and dominate the state of Ohio in recruiting," Holtmann said at his introductory press conference. "It will be an everyday focus for us."
Holtmann got to work early, piecing together a 2017 class by adding Musa Jallow and Kyle Young to his first Ohio State roster, before putting together a top-25 class in the 2018 cycle. On Tuesday, however, Holtmann added his biggest piece yet.
Alonzo Gaffney, the top player in the state of Ohio in the 2019 class, announced his commitment to Ohio State on Tuesday morning, giving the Buckeyes their signature in-state commitment they had missed out on in recent years.
Gaffney was the second commitment Ohio State picked up in three days, as the Buckeyes landed Florida State transfer CJ Walker on Sunday. Due to transfer rules, Walker will not be eligible to play until 2019-2020, when Gaffney will arrive on campus.
When Gaffney does arrive, he figures to make an immediate impact on the court for Ohio State.
