I thought I saw the boys from Chapel Hill trying to get him.. Just because they stole Francis does not mean that they are going to steal another Ohio basketball recruit.

Top 2019 prospect was in attendance for Ohio State basketball game on Saturday

Alonzo Gaffney, Ohio’s No. 1 prospect in the 2019 class, took in the Buckeyes game against Iowa.

Whether it dealt with a team from the hardwood or gridiron, the Ohio State Buckeyes had a pretty good week on the recruiting trail. On top of two victories against Big Ten foes, Chris Holtmann played host to a handful of basketball recruits on Saturday evening. With the football team, a handful of prospects made visits over the weekend.

With a win against the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, Holtmann and the Buckeyes now sit atop the conference standings. In attendance for that win was the No. 1 prospect in Ohio for 2019, power forward Alonzo Gaffney.

Ohio State is in a good spot with a few of the top 2019 prospects in the Midwest. While far from a done deal, I could definitely see the Buckeyes signing a class a year from now that includes D.J. Carton and Alonzo Gaffney

Gaffney, a five-star prospect, is the top-ranked prospect in Ohio. The Buckeyes are in a great spot with him, but Michigan State and Georgetown are also heavily involved in his recruitment. North Carolina continues to monitor Gaffney and a scholarship offer may change the dynamics of his recruitment some.
