SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

Ohio State's 9 pt win over Nebraska (on the road): "See, they aren't that good, they struggled with a 3-6 team"
Alabama's 6 pt win over 4-5 LSU (at home): "See, LSU is tougher than everyone thinks"

#SECLogic

You see, they constantly build up their opponents to make themselves look better. And it's been very effective. That, my friends, is why I root for the B1G in their Bowls, not because of loyalty or any other bullshit reason - it makes OSU look better.

The company spinning that narrative isn't going to stop doing it no matter how well the rest of the B1G does in bowl games. They may change tactics a bit but the overall marketing strategy will remain. Promote the SEC brand because it drives dollars and they have a financial interest in the realization of that strategy.

Still, the conference doing well in OOC games generally serves as a deterrent from being the ones to get screwed when ESPN tries to fit 4 P5 Conference Champs, Notre Dame, and a G5 upstart into 2 playoff spots.
Any given year, there's usually 1-2 teams that gets screwed.

It's a "we don't need to be faster than the lion, just not the slowest antelope" philosophy.

Edit:
There is 1 important exception, however.

Is it the conference doing well or the conference generating ESPN the second/third most amount of money when it's teams appear on the ESPN network?

dude’s “personal issues” have been going on for almost 2 seasons now.
you might want to bank on someone other than him.

Well we have Darnell Washington and a ton of other 5 Stars on the roster and in the pipeline to easily replace him.

Plus Brock Bowers is damn good and he's just a 4 star.

As Kirby said, "you're either elite or you're not"

Georgia is elite. LSU is not.
