SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

I think it would be worth considering whether to stay there instead of jumping into a tougher situation like LSU, A&M, USC, etc.

I think you have to switch to Austin if you can. They're also insulated from the fallout when Texas finally succeeds in destroying another conference (instead of simply crippling it like they have currently).

Remember those rosters in the mid 00s under Mack? Imagine what Herman would do with Vince Young, Jamaal Charles, Selvin Young, etc followed by McCoy, followed by a 5-star dual threat every year. He's dominating with a receiver at QB and AAC talent. We all saw how he dominated in the playoffs with a brand new QB (who was 98% out the door) who stepped in for a freshman, heisman finalist QB.

Yes. Clearly you take the Texas job if/when it opens for him but you could project out into the future several other big time destination jobs for a guy as hot as Hermann is (OSU, ND, Bama might all be looking for someone else say 5+ years from now).

I was thinking of the more common next 2-3 years after big school x fires it's current coach scenario's (The LSU's of the world)

Yeah, this is the main issue I see: timing. Urban will probably be around long enough that Herman already has another big job. Texas could be open soon, notwithstanding last night, and Herman could build Houston as a Big 12 member. That last scenario may keep him available the longest and available for Ohio State.

Urban wins two more titles, breaks Harbaugh, transforms Finebaum into an SEC (targeting) troll, retires in 5 years and welcomes Herman home.

I'm not so sure. Texas is the graveyard of coaches that Ohio State was pre-Woody. You're taking the chance that you'll simply be the next David McWilliams. If Houston gets into the B12, Herman is looking at a boost into the 4-5M catagory at a school that will build him a statue when he leaves. Take Houston to the top of the B12 and then leave for a much better position at Ohio State when Urban retires.

Of course the best scenario would be that Herman goes to UT, has some success and then leaves them for Ohio State.

I actually sorta weirdly want Harbaugh to succeed. Just never at the expense of Ohio State.

I was always in the wanting Michigan to be good in order to make the rivalry better camp, but Harbaugh makes me want them to lose every game. Unfortunately Aspy can coach, so it'll be up to Urban to break his will and send him hightailing it back to the NFL/

For me, when you really want to see your rival cry, you want them to be high enough that they have a long tearful fall when you kick their ass.

But when they lose to OSU, there are a lot of valid excuses as Urban's squad is the clear #2 program in america and a few moments away (largely from Sparty and Gene Smith) from leapfrogging Bama.

When they lose to little brother yet again it's a far more devastating loss. Every offseason they declare that Sparty will clearly lose and stop capitalizing on the lucky downturn of Michigan. Their luck has run out and they don't have the talent to reload. Never mind that they prove this wildly wrong every year and keep competing with and beating OSU, this year will be their undoing.

I don't think he's all that wanted by the NFL and tsun will put up with about anything before they'll admit he's not the savior.

The Bo coaching tree is essentially dead. They have no where else to turn to if Rain Man doesn't right the ship.

This actually. . . makes sense. The despise in Michigan is strong in you my friend.
