SEC (It just means more.. even its losses are wins)

actually, it’s more recent than that.

your ‘06 team was heavily favored in the media over Florida.
but getting smoked in that game and the losing to us the next year is what did y’all in.

what i don’t understand though is why Oklahoma keeps getting a pass though.

got beat by LSU and USC i’m back to back title games
got beat by Florida in title game
got beat by UGA in playoffs.

but people tend to gloss over those for some reason.
Was the first P5 team to lose to a mid major in a bowl as well.
And, they got ass raped by USC, not just beat. You thought 41-14 was a disaster when Florida took it to OSU? How about 55-19.

That change to the thread works too, thanks. That pretty much sums it up for me.

When an SEC team w/ a 2nd loss (when 1 of their losses by 20) can EVEN BE CONSIDERED over another P5 champ w/ 1-loss (OSU or OU) bc they played the #1 team tough..... BUT STILL LOST, is the day the system has major flaws. Why even play the games? We were an OU loss away from complete chaos.

I'll be perfectly honest.... It has to be results that matter. If we are just going to look at which teams look the best getting off the bus: Bama, Clemson, UGA, and OSU.

Just pencil them in every yr, bc IMO, those are the four teams that have the most talented rosters as we sit here today if you want to go back 3-4-5 yrs of recruiting classes.

Too many differences between conferences, their non-con slate, number of conference games, ect... to make this current system an equal opportunity for everyone.

Who was it? Herm Edwards? "You play to win the game." It isn't "You play to hopefully look good enough, even in a loss." You play to win the game. Sorry, Georgia, you lost. To put them ahead of a 1-loss conference champion is an insult. Maybe that was their plan? People might be taking it as an insult to Ohio State and Urban Meyer. But it's an insult to the goal of the game. Georgia won the beauty contest, because they lost to #1 with 2 minutes remaining, and someone else (LSU?), while Ohio State lost by 29 to a 6-6 team. Meanwhile, UCF is over there asking, "What the eff else can I even DO???" Sure, they look like they fell out of the ugly tree and hit all the branches, but they won their games.

Stupid system is stupid.

Along with having the BS benefit of the doubt from the CFP committee, for the SEC 8 conference games is definitely a built in advantage as well. Basically everyone ends up +1 win. Instead of half the conference losing an extra game playing that 9th conference game. Cause you know none of those teams are using that 4th OOC game to schedule anyone worth a damn.

That 06 game sucked... but i dont know how anyone expected us to be there in 07 or could hold it against us.
Backed into an NCG against LSU in New Orleans ... the first since Katrina... nobody wanted to be in that game.

To be fair, Saban has been pretty vocal about wanting a 9 game schedule.

Malzhan also wants it, probably because Auburn vs. Georgia every year is bullshit compared to Alabama vs. Tennessee.

The problem with 07 was that people viewed it as OSU losing to a kind of crappy two-loss LSU team, but LSU was the preseason #1 that year and their defense was totally different when they had Glen Dorsey healthy (which they did for the OSU game) versus when they didn't. That game is also remembered as a massive blowout when it really wasn't: A lot of weird bounces went against OSU that day.

doesn’t matter.
it’s viewed as y’all had back to back shots at the SEC and lost both of them.
Narrative created.

Mr. Dorsey really wasn’t healthy for 2nd half of season. Chop block by Auburn mid October got him. But was finally 100% again come January.
plus we got Jean-Francois back for that game as well.

wasn’t a “massive blowout”, but we were up by 3 TDs with just over a minute to go.

Yeah but that game wouldn't go away. It's our permanent cross division game.
We'd just pick up another western team to play and rotate 2 per year as opposed to one.

Ditto.
You know A&M has been in the SEC since 2012 and we still have never played them? They come to Athens next year for the first time since the 80's.

for us, it’s Vandy.
not really complaining, but we haven’t played them since 2010.
we travel to them next season.

we’ve played every other East team at least twice since then. Except Mizzou who we’ve only played once (2016).

we’ve beat A&M (33) more times than we’ve played Georgia (31).
despite being in same conference as UGA since for 90 years longer than we have with A&M.

hell, just realized we’ve actually played A&M more often than we’ve played Auburn.

of the East teams, Florida is the only one we’ve played more often than the Aggies.
