Seattle police arrest 'superhero' Phoenix Jones in assault investigation

mediaManager

The man known as Phoenix Jones Guardian of Seattle, the self-proclaimed Seattle "superhero" who has received international media attention, was arrested and booked into King County Jail early Sunday morning for investigation of assault.

Shortly after 2:30 a.m., police were called to First Avenue and Columbia Street after an alleged assault with pepper spray. A group of men and women had left a club, were walking to a car and were "dancing and having a good time," Seattle Police Det. Jeff Kappel said in a statement.

"An unknown adult male suspect came up from behind and pepper sprayed the group," Kappel's statement said. "Two men in the group chased after the suspect. Responding officers arrived on scene and separated the involved parties."

Been awhile since I've heard about this guy. Interesting comments in the news report. The videographer said the police did not ask for his statement, they just sent him away. He said the report from the police said that Jones has repeatidly injected himself into situations like this after being asked to just call 911. They also said that there are some officers in the Seattle PD that hold a grudge against Phoenix.

The beginning of the video is very sketchy, it's tough to tell what was really occurring. By the account of those that were drinking, they were just dancing. Definitely a few people drunk in public here though. The arch nemisis, Shoe-Lady, was clearly intoxicated. The fact they chased them with rocks doesn't play well into the "victim" role either as they had clearly left by that point and the victims went on the offensive.

My opinion: The guy made a judgement call and appears to have been mistaken. Overall it sounds like he's done some good things for Seattle. Police confiscated his outfit, but he said he has a backup.
