Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills)

I watched this on cbs today, and left with the feeling that this guys dad has a big head. He almost seems like a guy that would ask whats in it for me instead of whats in it for my son. I find its funny that he went with U$C knowing the type of person Kiffin is and knowing that U$C is going to face issues with the NCAA soon. Hope dad enjoys the bright lights of Hollywood. He will have plenty of time to watch them, cause his son wont be on tv or in a bowl game. Congrats to PETE CARROL for being the smart one and leaving LA before the storm comes in.

I didn't v-bet this (noticed too late to place bet) but my estimation of the Buckeyes' likelyhood of getting SH's commitment plummeted when I saw the dreaded "parents will relocate with son" quote. That's a package deal we'll rarely win.

Read the link above and it's just sad. The things he said were so misguided about OSU (presumably about us anyways). He (yet again) brings up the 300+ person classes, that I'm sure USC has for Com 101 and other common Gen Ed course, which is the case here. He also mentions the talent USC already had in the fold, as Floyd did.

It's a sales game with many recruits. Whoever does the best job of selling what they got can usually convince a lot of kids(and parents) where they should go. The Henderson have bought in to the USC/LA thang.
Probation? What probation?

Unfortunately the warning signs have been there for awhile, we (including I) just decided to ignore them. An overly involved parent (parents SHOULD be heavily involved in the process but when it's more about them than their kid...), a desire to build drama, choosing to decide on a national stage, wanting to make a big splash with the announcement...

These are all the warning signs that the recruit in question is probably not a "Tressel" recruit.

That is true, and if my son had pulled something like this I would have used the same tactic that Chris Spielman's Dad used when Chris told him he was going to Scum.....

Sonny Spielman wouldn't have spent the last few months playing games with reporters.

"My boy is going to Ohio State, now get off my lawn."

The NY Times article is better...

During Tressel’s home visit last month, he told Seantrel in great detail what his first year would be like for the Buckeyes.

Henderson’s father described the talk as “pretty long-winded” and “kind of dry.” Afterward, Tressel mentioned to the Hendersons that he was always told he talked a lot.

“He’s so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring,” Sean Henderson said.

Sean (can I call you Sean? Thanks...), it's not meant to entertain you. It's meant to give you the information you need to help guide your son down a path that will affect the rest of his life.

Next time perhaps a clown & a juggling dog would help.

Henderson also thought it was interesting that U.S.C. would appear before the N.C.A.A.’s committee on infractions between Feb. 19 and 21 because Seantrel’s two sisters have birthdays on Feb. 20 and Feb. 21.

“It’s just a lot,” he said. “It kind of seems like fate to a certain extent.”

Fate has a funny way of sneaking up on ya.

I harbor no ill will with kid but it doesn't sound like he would've fit in at OSU, anyway. Best of luck to him. Time to move on.

I'm just excited about all the new players we are getting. I can't really say anything negative about Seantrel himself...He earned a right to chose a college and he decided to go to USC.

Ya know... that stuck out in my mind too... I hate to say that I knew it then... but if there was any signal during the saga that made me think twice of our chances, this was it.

The quote from Tressel I remember about recruiting runs, "Players come in worried about what players are in front of them, when I tell them to worry about who comes in after them." This is not exactly right, but the meaning is correct.

Sonny Spielman wouldn't have spent the last few months chatting it up with reporters then try to build drama so his son could "shock the world".

One of the best posts I have read on here.

I don't know that Seantrel is a good kid, because like every other recruit, I don't know him....but like every other recruit/kid, I give him the benefit of the doubt. He made the decision that he thought was best for him, so good for him. I hope that he goes on to have a great career and contributes, not only on the field, but to the community also. That being said
1. Lane Kiffin is a scumbag and I hope that his actions don't have a negative impact on kids like Seantrel and others who committed to USC.
2. I am skeptical of the advice he received in making this decision.

Again, good luck Seantrel.
