Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills)

Nobody's ever questioned his desire until you post this nonsense. I'm sure you wouldn't say the same if he signed OSU today.

Not my "nonsense". Were you watching the ESPNU coverage today? It was brought up by Todd McShay. Henderson dominated mostly by his sheer size. What happens when he faces guys just as big and fast?
No one doubts Norwell's passion and attitude.

I think the answer is found in your link:

Seantrel Henderson, the highly recruited offensive lineman who announced Wednesday that he was going to Southern California, has not signed a letter of intent to play for the Trojans.
According to Henderson?s father, Sean, he will wait until U.S.C. appears before an N.C.A.A. infractions committee from Feb. 19-21 to hear about possible sanctions for the program before deciding whether to sign the letter.

Not so fast, my friends.

Henderson may not sign his LOI for another week or so.

NYT:

According to Henderson?s father, Sean, he will wait until U.S.C. appears before an N.C.A.A. infractions committee from Feb. 19-21 to hear about possible sanctions for the program before deciding whether to sign the letter. Though the Trojans are not likely to hear about any possible sanctions at that time, Sean Henderson said the hearing would give the family a sense of where the process was headed.

Whoops- repeat post. Mods, delete if appropriate.

Seantrel Henderson's mom says he's going to USC | StarTribune.com

I just had a brief chat with Bree Jasper, the mother of Seantrel Henderson. There has been much speculation since it became apparent last night that Henderson was not planning to sign a letter of intent with USC until the university goes before an NCAA infractions committee. That should happen between Feb. 19 and 21.

Henderson's mom told me that Seantrel will definitely go to USC.

"He?s going to USC," she said. "He?s definitely going to USC."

Report: Seantrel 'back on the market' | CollegeFootballTalk.com

Posted by John Taylor on February 8, 2010 9:36 AM ET
Five days after committing to Southern Cal, but not signing his Letter of Intent, highly-touted recruit Seantrel Henderson looks to have reopened his recruiting. We think. Maybe.

Speaking to KSTP-TV sports anchor Joe Schmit by way of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Hendersons -- both Seantrel and his father Sean -- strongly hinted that the big offensive tackle is back on the market. At least, that's what the Henderson-to-English translator told us.

USC will appear before the NCAA later this month at a hearing on several issues, including Reggie Bush and his family accepting illegal benefits during his time with the Trojans. If the Hendersons get the impression that severe sanctions could be in the offing, the lineman will certainly be somewhere other than Southern California come the fall.

"Yeah, I think it would," Seantrel Henderson said when asked if sanctions would make him change his mind. "But at the same time, I would have to, you know, talk to the coaches to see exactly what's going on and exactly what's going to happen and then base my decision upon what's going to be going on. Because that's the school I would like to go to, but then at the same time I just can't walk into anything that's going to, like, make my future, you know, not as good as it could be."

Sean Henderson, businessman, hinted in the same direction as his son.

"I wouldn't lose the leverage that we have. I mean, at the end of the day it's still a business and at the end of the day it's still my son's future," the father said. "And everything that's going to possibly go on in his life could boil down to that decision and I wouldn't sell him basically, per se, you know, but my son, his life away and put it in their hands not knowing, you know, what the future holds for USC or for him. And so I'd rather be able to at least let him keep his options open, because if things aren't looking good come the 20th or the 21st [of February] or whatever, then we might have to move in a different direction, but it's only for the sake of his future."

Based on Seantrel Henderson's own words, it would appear his next choice after USC would be Ohio State. However, multiple reports have disputed that, saying that Miami would land the lineman if things fall through with the Trojans.

We have just two words on this whole situation, which is slowly but surely making its way toward Bryce Brown territory: Buyer beware.

On a day of decision, the Seantrel Henderson signing in New York turned out to be mass confusion - TwinCities.com

Henderson's signing day led to more questions than answers

Editor's note: Pioneer Press reporter Tim Leighton covered the recruitment of Seantrel Henderson and was in New York last week as Henderson made his college choice. Here are some of Leighton's observations.

National Signing Day is supposed to have a sense of finality to it. A student-athlete declares his intentions, signs on the dotted line and smiles for pictures. It's pretty clear-cut.

Not so much with CretinDerham Hall's Seantrel Henderson.

A circus of confusion swirled in the final months of his three-year recruiting odyssey, and it didn't clear up on signing day. Uncertainty remains as thick as Los Angeles smog. The only thing that was clear was the 6-foot-8, 330-pound offensive lineman was going to make his much-anticipated announcement in New York City on Tom Lemming's national television show.

Readers, fans and even critics remain confused and bewildered.

USC is not a lock to land five-star OT Seantrel Henderson, despite his commitment

By JC Shurburtt
ESPN Recruiting

While most of the 2010 recruiting cycle has been put to bed, there is still one very big catch left because the nation's top offensive lineman, Seantrel Henderson (Saint Paul, Minn./Cretin Derham-Hall), has not yet signed a national letter-of-intent, though he has committed to Southern California.

Henderson and his father said during a television interview Sunday that they will not sign with USC until they get a better sense of the sanctions the Trojans may face from an ongoing NCAA investigation. The NCAA is investigating allegations that former football player Reggie Bush, now with the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, broke rules by accepting cash, a car and free housing from businessmen who hoped to profit from Bush after he went to the NFL.

USC officials will appear before an NCAA infractions committee later this month. It could be some time before the exact extent of the penalties against the Trojans, if any, are known.

As far as the NCAA recruiting calendar goes, it's now a quiet period, so schools can't have off-campus contact with the 6-foot-7, 295-pounder. There are still phone calls, though, and programs like Ohio State, Miami and others are still making their pitch.

The Henderson situation continues a trend over the past three recruiting cycles in which high-profile prospects have taken their recruitment well past national signing day. It's the second straight year that a Lane Kiffin-coached team has been strongly in the mix. Running back Bryce Brown (Wichita, Kan./East) took his recruitment past signing day last year before inking with Tennessee, where Kiffin was the coach. Terrelle Pryor (Jeanette, Pa./Jeanette) took his recruitment past national signing day in 2008 before finally picking Ohio State over Michigan and Penn State.

The Buckeyes were considered very strong players for Henderson before the Trojans made a move and snagged him. Could Ohio State again benefit from a lingering recruitment, or will Miami, his final official visit, be the beneficiary?

With the NCAA saying it will wait 8-10 weeks to make its judgment on the USC situation, you would have to think that there are two most-plausible reasons for that amount of time:

  1. There is indeed a boatload of violations that USC committed, and thus it's going to take that long for the NCAA to sort through it all and determine the severity of penalties to levy against USC.

  2. The NCAA is going to do jack squat to USC, but their taking a long time to "render a verdict" makes it appear that they're actually concerned, and also will give time for any negative media attention on this to fizzle out.

Will Seantrel think it's #1 or #2? You'd have to guess that with his expressed desire to be at USC and the NCAA not immediately levying any sanctions, his signing his LOI with USC seem pretty likely.

Bob Hunter commentary: Rumblings | The Columbus Dispatch

Offensive line prospect Seantrel Henderson appears likely to sign with Southern California, even though the school is under NCAA investigation, the St. Paul (Minn.) Pioneer Press reports. It also reported that Henderson, who is 6 feet 8 and 330 pounds, now has the University of Miami as his second choice, a switch from when he named Ohio State as his runner-up on signing day.

He has until April1 to sign a national letter of intent.
