Seantrel Henderson (Buffalo Bills)

How did it turn out for Brian Rolle and James Scott?

Its simple.

The only way to shut up people like that "reporter" is to beat them on the field of play and to not lose very high profile guys like Henderson to UF.

As for Rolle I read back through his thread and found well respected and awarded posters stating that UF was slow playing him. Rolle was not their number one choice. JT beat UF and others here but Rolle was not equally desired.

To me Brewster is a better example. Rumors are Meyer was not happy Brewster went to us. Henderson falls into this Brewster category. He appears to be an "equal want." After Floyd I am hoping that JT can win this one.

Holding his own in "equal want" battles is a start... then he just needs to beat them on the field.

The extra burn was that Brewster was out of his backyard, too.

I've got a good feeling about Seantrel. I'm lookiing forward to Seantrel and his family ending his recruitment here soon. Hopefully he'll be putting on a Buckeye hat at the end of the day on February 3rd!

Henderson's college list is down to six (or is it five?)

Seantrel Henderson, the Cretin-Derham Hall offensive lineman who is one of the most sought-after recruits in the nation, appears ready to close the book on the recruiting process. I visited with Henderson before basketball practice this afternoon, and I wasn't the only visitor. Ohio State assistant coaches Dick Tressell and Jim Bollman were on hand to watch Henderson practice his second sport

Tressel, the brother of Buckeyes head coach Jim Tressell, is a former athletic director and football coach at Hamline. He now coaches running backs at Ohio State. Bollman is the offensive coordinator and offensive line coach.

Henderson will be at the University of Miami this weekend for his final official visit. The others were to Ohio State, USC, Notre Dame and Florida. I asked him if he's ready for recruiting to end.

"Yeah, I?ll be real glad," he said. "There?s been a lot of stuff, it kind of gets you off track a little bit, with all the personal things you?ve got going on in your life, too. I?ll be real happy when it?s over. A lot of things will slow down."

He said he does not know where he will go to college ("I wish I did"). When I asked if he has whittled his list, he said his list is down to the five schools he will officially visit.

The obvious follow-up question was, what about Minnesota? Has he eliminated the Gophers from consideration?

He quickly replied, "Minnesota?s still in, too."

You can probably read too much into that, or maybe he has already eliminated Minnesota but wants to tread carefully with his hometown college. We won't know until Wednesday, which is signing day.

Henderson will return from Miami on Sunday, and the Gophers will get one more chance to make an impression. He will visit the campus Sunday to meet with the coaches, and that will be the final step before he announces his decision.

"I?ve just got a lot of thinking to do after Sunday," he said. "I?ve got a real good memory so I have to think about my first visit all the way down to my fifth visit; what I liked the most, where I actually thought I could fit into. Most of the schools are saying I?ll have an equal opportunity to come in and start, just like all the other guys. It?s just going to be where I want to be, where I?m going to feel comfortable, where I?m going to gain the relationships with people, with my coaches and the guys on the team. Where will I be happy? That?s what I?ve got to figure out."

Scout $ - Kiffin Visits Seantrel

The Kiffins came calling & regaled the Hendersons with stories of when Lane attended & graduated from high school in Minnesota... Sean Henderson (Dad) says it was a good visit & they enjoyed meeting them... They know time is growing short so they're focusing in to have a decision by NLOID...

The tone I got from the article was "I wish Kiffin well at USC, hope violations aren't in store, and my son isn't going there." Interesting to note that Miami has an in home and official coming up.

As silly as it sounds, during the Rose Bowl we actually put Marcus Hall at LT with Cordle at TE on the left side for a pretty nasty unbalanced line.

According to maxpreps, Seantrell has always dreamed of being a tight end:

I think we might have an opening at tight end? Not much depth there. This guy would be hard to tackle. He would be hard to jam and disrupt at the line of scrimmage. Try to interfere with him to keep him from catching it .... lots of luck to you.

Free Press Best of the Midwest 2010
Giant offensive lineman Seantrel Henderson is heads above rest
BY MARK SNYDER
FREE PRESS SPORTS WRITER

Seantrel Henderson of Minneapolis considers himself just another football player, just one of the guys.

Nope.

Not when you're an offensive lineman who stands 6-feet-8 and tips the scales at 340 pounds.

Not when you're being recruited by Ohio State, Notre Dame, Southern Cal, Florida and Miami (Fla.).

Not when you're the No. 1 prospect in the Free Press' 22nd annual Best of the Midwest rankings.

"He is an amazing athlete," said Tom Lemming, the national recruiting guru who was among the first to place Henderson as the nation's No. 1 prospect two years ago and who will host his signing day announcement live on CBS College Sports television in New York. "He can be as good as he wants to be."

Henderson, who attends Cretin-Derham Hall in St. Paul, Minn., moves with a rhythm unimaginable for a person his size, with feet that glide and power that can plow defenders.

He's naturally large and always has embraced his size as an asset. Combine that with the mean streak he said he developed the past two years, and he is a rare football specimen.

"When I was a sophomore I started doing everything the coaches told me to do and got better every year," Henderson said. "I started getting bigger and started getting stronger."

1. SEANTREL HENDERSON

St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham Hall, OL, 6-feet-8, 340 pounds

Highlights: U.S. Army All-America. Won Anthony Munoz Award as lineman of the game. Led school to second state title in history. Did not surrender a sack as a senior.

Coach Mike Scanlan: “His athletic ability given his size is amazing. You don’t see kids that big move that well. He’s pretty smooth. You can really see it before practice when he’s messing around, playing quarterback or receiver, throwing or catching the ball.”

Uncommitted: Considering Ohio State, USC, Florida, Notre Dame, Miami (Fla.).

Elite football recruits are ready for their signing-day close-ups
By Jim Halley, USA TODAY

Seantrel Henderson from Cretin-Derham Hall (St. Paul), USA TODAY's Offensive Player of the Year, is planning to fly to New York City to announce his college choice on CBS College Sports on Wednesday. That same day, the first day of college football's signing period, 10 elite players are expected to name their picks on ESPNU.

For many top recruits, low-key commitments and signings are seen as old school.

"The main reason why we're doing this in New York City, I want that day and moment to be important to him," said Henderson's father, Sean Henderson.

"Whatever school he chooses, there are going to be five other schools where it will be a letdown for them. (Henderson is looking at Florida, Miami (Fla.), Minnesota, Notre Dame, Ohio State and Southern California.) With none of those being from the New York area, people there will be detached."

Sounds like we can cross Minny off the list..?
