I don't know, what I remember from the brief stint when I read Duane Long somewhat regularly was him making lists of under the radar prospects who were about to blow up and jump up Ohio States recruiting board... I don't think a single kid he talked about was ever even mentioned by anyone else much less recruited by Ohio State.

A few cycles of that and I haven't particularly cared what Duane Long had to say since the mid 2000s.

Maybe he brought the goods in the 90s? Before my time.

That part I would agree with although I think when he focuses on line play he has some pretty good insights.

Fact is Givler, The Bank, Birm and Alex are the only recruiting guys I follow with any regularity. Ryan Donnelly and Derek Young are close to joining that list as well.

Scout put Derek Young on assignment primarily covering JUCO recruiting in Kansas... which seems asinine to me- kinda like them taking Bill Greene off covering Ohio State full time.

Maybe they want Young to cut his teeth on some crap assignment before moving him back to a recruiting hotbed where people give a damn?

Derek still brings a little heat when he can. But I appreciated his approach to things when he was working for BSB. He was often checking out recruits in person, which is how it has to be done.
