Scholarship Breakdown by Position and Recruiting Class

There is a lot of chatter over at Scout forums that Aram Olson will be granted a medical waiver, stay in school on scholarship, but not count against the 85 limit.
I assume that because he is still listed on the Scholarship Breakdown by Position that this is not official.
I saw him at the Spring game, in street clothes, wearing his #43 jersey, but not involved in any action.
It seems like one more available scholarship would give some incentive to walk ons to excel and potentially pick up that last scholly for 2008-2009.

Since we have kids like Bauserman and J Boren who will not take up schollies but are clearly scholarship caliber perhaps we need a new convention - like putting them in parens. If we do that with all the walk-ons the chart gets cluttered, but for these special few....

This is your baby, Oh8ch, so your wish is my command. Since Bauserman and J Boren are slightly different situations, putting them both in parentheses may lead to confusion. So instead, I'll put a number next to each with a footnote explanation at the bottom, sort of like:

Bauserman(1)
J Boren(2)

SPECIAL-CASE NON-SCHOLARSHIP PLAYERS
(1) Paying his own way via minor league baseball program
(2) Transferred from Michigan in 2008 after playing two years there

I want to call them something different than simple walk-on equivalents because they are indeed different from usual walk-ons.

So will Boren have two years of eligibility or one after he sits out a year? It seems like your chart implies that he'll only have one year.

I thought that Boren was in the 2006 class, did not redshirt, used two years of eligibility at Michigan. How does it work? Is 2008 a wasted year and then he has two more years left of eligibility? or is 2008 one year of his eligibility and then he has only one left in 2009?

Boren is will be a junior eligibility-wise this season and that's why he's under the junior column. Since he'll not play this year (think of it as a self-imposed redshirt year), he'll remain in the junior column for the 2009 season and move to the senior column for 2010. The chart is correct.

Didn't mean to suggest otherwise. Just curious on Boren's eligibility status.

Thanks for the help.

Hey Mili just a couple corrections...

I think that you take the highest star rating...Marcus Hall is a 5 star on scout...

Johnson to DE...

Hines and Moeller as LB's...

Clifford to S...

Think Simon is getting a first look at DT...

And Olson has been declared a medical hardship I believe...So he doesn't count against the 85...

Just thought i would give you a little help, since you do such a good job with keeping this updated...
