Scenarios for Final CFP Playoff Rankings

That’s why I am glad we’re in and can show it on the field. When we aren’t it’s an invitational based on voting. Even undefeated isn’t guaranteed .,the committee can spin any vote. Get rid of the vote if you win your conference your in and can’t be out.

That's why if they expand, it should be 6 teams, which is the 5 Power-5 CCG winners and the highest ranked Independent/CCG non-power5-winner. No at large bids for any biased entity to try to influence all year long, just a decision on who's 1 and who's 2 since they get a bye, and who is the last team. They could revert to the BCS model for those answers as far as I'm concerned, no committee is needed.

It's really an 11-or-12 team playoff, starting with the CCGs. But if you want in, win your damn division.

I can't stress this enough. We really need to stop talking about expanding to 8, that's what espn wants so they could get at least 3 SEC teams in every year.

My thoughts exactly..everybody knows what they need to do when the season starts. Rather than if your not SEC your penalized.

I get that, but 8 is the only way we possibly get home field games. Eight all in the Confederacy + California, and I say no thanks. Eight with games in cold weather sites, and it's all worth it. This year:

Memphis @ LSU
Baylor @ Ohio State
Oregon @ Clemson
UGA @ Okie

2018
UCF @ Alabama
tsun @ Clemson
Ohio State @ Notre Dame
UGA @ Okie

2017
UCF @ Clemson
USC @ Okie
Wiscy @ UGA
Ohio State @ Alabama

2016
WMU @ Alabama
Oklahoma @ Clemson
tsun @ Ohio State (though I'm sure they'd finesse the rankings to avoid rematches)
pedsters @ Washington

(3 B!G teams in)

2015
Houston @ Clemson
Ohio State @ Alabama
Stanford @ Sparty
Iowa @ Okie

(3 B!G teams in)

2014
Potato @ Gump
Mississippi State @ Oregon
TCU @ Florida State
Baylor @ Ohio State

That would have helped the B1G infinitely more than it would have hurt it.

Who would not want to come to Minnesota or Detroit in the winter? That is why tens of thousands of Southerners move North when they retire.

“Bless your Heart”. By my count there were 5 pretty important NFL championship games that were played in Northern States. All were sold out. Just because the committee has determined that we can never have a playoff without an SEC team doesn’t mean we have to have the games in your backyard too.

You’re missing the point. The NATIONAL playoffs are still the property of the bowl games, bowl games created during the Jim Crow era to make Tourist Money. The games were called exhibitions and the NC was based on polls prior to the exhibition games.

That era is over. It’s time to put the playoffs in NATIONAL venues. If the SEC fans don’t want to travel, that’s their right and we’ll gladly pack the house with Yankees.

Jim Crow era? Extra points for working that into a conversation about current bowl venues.

The Bowls had and have longstanding contractual relationships with those who broadcast those events. Longstanding, incestuous, whatever... All I'm saying it that it is about $$ and status quo, and the possibility that people would rather spend $ in LA or N’Awlins or Miami in January than go North. What any of us says does not matter, if folks vote with their wallets. Would they rather stroll in Detroit in January than Miami? Hell, I'm fine with giving it a go to see how that works out.

Cinci, I'm going to St. Vith for the 75th of the BOTB. I'll send you some pics when I get back

No offense, but the fact Packer fans pack their own stadium does not mean that folks from Virginia and the Carolinas want to go to Green Bay to play each other. Filling NFL stadiums is not your best argument, as each one has a mob of willing fans supporting the local team and willing to sell out a playoff game.

I'm just saying that it is nice to party in a place where passing out results in mosquito bites and sunburn, and not death or frostbite. Could be wrong.

Those were Superbowls Gator. Played in Domes in cities that have a lot of population and airports and highways. Those same cities have hosted final fours in the cold too. Those were also sold out. Do you even North Face bro?
