Before the 12 team playoff I assume?
Seems the threshold will be ~3 losses to make the top 12.Correct. Definitely expect to see 2-3 every year in the 12-team format
Bama, Ohio state, Georgia, Tsun, Penn State, USC, Clemson should be in Basically every year. I expect an another random SEC team or 2 and another B1G team, plus the Pac and random Pac B1G should be the others teams oh and possibly a rand G5Seems the threshold will be ~3 losses to make the top 12.
Shouldn’t be that hard to do.

I feel like ever other year they were at least 9-3.. I'd need to look though. and USC by the metric shouldn't be good but Iexpect them to better under RileyPenn State? They went 7-6 and 4-5 the two years before this year. They're hardly consistent enough to expect them to be an annual participant. I'd expect them in 50% of the time tops

USC coming in will make that a little tougher, even though the Pedsters will probably only play them every 3 or 4 years.12 spots for 5 conferences essentially. Finish top 2-3 any given year and you should be in the mix. Penn State can do that.
Well, if that's not an argument for no automatic bids, I don't know that I have one.
