Saturday's Potential "Break Out" Performer

Saturday's "Break Out" Player"

Terrelle Pryor

After this game, there is no way Tressel can keep Terrelle Pryor on the sideline like he did for OU. I give the nod for "break out performer" to Terrelle Pryor. He needs to be as involved in every game from this point forward as he was tonight. That was the new baseline. It is only up from here.

Bottom line, no turnovers! No INT and no lost fumbles! He can create when things break down. His numbers were good. He was 7 of 9 passing for 52 yards and stretched the field on one down field throw (126.31 QB rating). He ran for 40 yards for a 3.6 AVG (which looks worse than it was due to some sacks).

I have to agree. Even though Boeckman will start every game, I think Pryor will be seeing more and more time. Against one of the top D's in the nation, he showed me a lot more than I expected and flashed his enormous potential.

I wish he would've gotten just a few more carries early on becuase I was almost sure he was going to eventually break a play for a 50-60yd TD. Alas, it didn't happen, but Pryor has really shown me that he can be a Vince Young player in the future for OSU.

Odd that the offense looked so much better than it did last week at certain points in the game, and we only scored three points.

Pryor needs to be the focal point of the offense for as long as Beanie is not playing. Boeckman should still play. The rotating QB system was very effective. We have to limit turnovers. Those really killed our momentum. We never recovered from Ray M's INT return. There were glimpses of what the offense has the potential to do, but they couldn't finish drives. We really needed someone to step up on offense and be the "break out performer" for which we all voted. Nobody stepped up their game in the redzone.

Does the offense lack a true leader? One thing we knew we had with Troy Smith was a leader. We knew we had one in Krenzel. Right now, I think Todd is lacking the confidence to be the leader, and I think many of the other guys on offense are as well. Pryor is too young to lack confidence. :tongue2:

When Beanie comes back, I'm fairly confident that we'll see a pretty damn good offense, and I think it'll look different from the offense we ran last year and the two games before this.

Hopefully I don't sound like a moron. Drinking + sadness + football = me rambling and acting like I know something about football.

I'm still proud to be a Buckeye. Certainly one of the most disappointing days in OSU history, but I'll still throw out a hearty :oh:.

I disagree. I think the rotating QB system, in the long run, gives you exactly what you saw last night. Some really solid plays capped with continuity problems that make it difficult to capitalize/score.

It wasn't like the situational substitutions Florida used a couple of years ago. From where I was sitting (living room) it seemed, to me, to be a disservice to both TB and TP.

I thought Ray Small looked really improved. He was very decisive with the ball in his hands.

Small looks ready to have a good year. He does look much more confident out there...he drop one early though that hit him right between the numbers. But I'm excited to see him start to come into his own.

On the other side, I thought Jenkins looked very physical out there. Thought the corners were solid.

When we didn't turn the ball over, the rotating QB system drove right down the field multiple times in the first half. That first drive was a thing of beauty, until we got to the 5 yard line.
