Saturday Superstitions ... Game Day Prep

I don't place a vBet on the game.

I will wear the same jersey until a loss. I learned if I wear a jersey after a loss, we continue to lose.

If we start playing bad, I flip my hat and wear it backwards (or vice versa depending on it's current layout)

OK for the entire off season I've been telling myself "it doesn't matter what I do, what I wear, what I eat, etc.." My fanaticism/insanity/anxiety has yet to let me truly achieve this. Yesterday, I tried through most of the first half I sat at home and watched the game in all different clothes. Then felt pretty sure of my off season mantra at the start of the 3rd quarter. Then the 4th came along and it all changed, I mean everything. So as fast as a toddler would let me I changed everything I was wearing. I promise you all, I WILL NEVER allow that to happen again. Even if somehow I manage to snag tickets to THE GAME, I will still be wearing my shorts and short-sleeves. I am sorry I hope you can forgive my audacity I realized. CHANGE IS BAD!

Everything went as it should for me on a Saturday. I was panicking at first because I couldn't find my OSUMB CD, but realized it was already in the CD player, so the first crisis was averted on my way to Buffalo Wild Wings! I remembered my hat this week (forgot it last week, so I grabbed my OSU coat), so I was well on my way to having a perfect day. Walked into my usual spot off to the side of the bar for the game, and the rest is history.

Next week starts the "home stretch" where I'm watching at home until the scUM game (don't have the $$$ to go to BDubs for 12 weeks  ), so hopefully my habits translate successfully to staying at home. The same shirt and hat will be worn, the marching band will be playing before the game, and I will be glued to the TV from kickoff to the final second.

I wear the same jersey every game and hat.

On my playlist and do listen while in the car on Saturday mornings doing my errands. Not really a superstition, just do it to get pumped up for the games.

On Friday afternoon/evening (if not attending the game) I go to the grocery and collect the necessary foods. I make Mexican Bean Dip. A layer of refried beans with a layer of sour cream mixed with Taco seasoning, and with a thick layer of cheese, diced onions, and sliced tomatos on top. You do not want to sit next to me at church Sun morning. I will have a large pkg of Uncle Mike's beef jerkey, plenty of tortilla chips, some pepsi, and bubble gum.

I wake at 5:45 AM every Sat and work until 11:00. I tune in the radio pre-game after work.

I come home, get into my jersey and my black OSU hat, and dig into the bean dip. I watch Gameday and the BTN pregame show. If it is a noon game, I will be watching the game on DVR, often an hour or so behind. When things don't go well, my hat gets thrown across the room. If things are going very badly, I change shirts.

That's about it. I think that's enough dysfunction.

Grab the football (ohio state) and play catch with the wife in the street or grab the neighbor kids and play catch with them and teach them routes. One kid had the nerve to say "Why don't you have a Texas ball?" I told him to go deep and pelted him in the back with the ball after about 2 steps. I also have to stand on all 3rd downs. Come to think of it, I don't sit for much of the game.

Just wanted to say what an incredible job everyone did last year to make sure our BUCKEYES went 12-0!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2013 season is almost upon us and I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few things.

1. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO COME UP WITH SOME GOOFY NEW SHIT.

2. This Saturday is an excellent opportunity for a dry run. I'm not suggesting you wear your winning wardrobe, or make that winning meal, just make sure everything is set and ready to go in a week. Don't be that asshole who let's us get 14 points down because you aren't wearing the right shirt.

3. Conversations with your better half. Go over the season schedule! Remind them that Saturdays are not for trips to the garden center, weddings, births, and visits from in-laws.

GO BUCKS!!!
