Saturday Superstitions ... Game Day Prep

Just wanted to say what an incredible job everyone did last year to make sure our BUCKEYES went 12-0!!!!!!!!!!!!

The 2013 season is almost upon us and I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you of a few things.

1. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO COME UP WITH SOME GOOFY NEW [Mark May].

2. This Saturday is an excellent opportunity for a dry run. I'm not suggesting you wear your winning wardrobe, or make that winning meal, just make sure everything is set and ready to go in a week. Don't be that asshole who let's us get 14 points down because you aren't wearing the right shirt.

3. Conversations with your better half. Go over the season schedule! Remind them that Saturdays are not for trips to the garden center, weddings, births, and visits from in-laws.

GO BUCKS!!!
Unfortunately, #2 was me last year, although it was a hat and not a shirt.
For some unknown reason, the morning of the UCF game I decided that it was time to replace my 15 yr.old Black,Block O ball cap.(think Woody style). It is really quite worn, has a few tears in it, and generally looks pretty sad.
Boy what a dumbass! By halftime, the shiny new hat was stuffed in a closet, and "old faithful" was back on head. I promise to all of Buckeye Nation that I will NEVER EVER make that mistake again and apologize for any undue hardship or heart attacks my error may have caused. I only hope that I may be forgiven for my transgression.

#3 - Unless the in-laws are rabid Buckeye fans too. :oh:

Add
4) Patiently explain to the new huggy, kissy, touchy, feely wife (with no US football experience, much less Buckeye fervor) that NO interruptions of any kind are tolerated or even acknowledged during play. You wanna smoochy, you wait for a TO or commercial. Maybe a long huddle, but that's it. :oh:

This is "Old Faithful" as cleaned up as the old girl can get for the beginning of the season. Soon to be placed on my balding head for the rest of the day.

GO BUCKS!!

So my new superstition is kind of a pain in the ass. Since my wife and I have been together we've moved twice:

1. November 11, 2002: Day of "Holy Buckeye".

2. September 6, 2014.

We move = Buckeyes NC.

We have no plans to move again, but might consider it if some Buckeye "Big Cigar" wants to buy us a better place.

Had to literally stand in the bedroom alone watching the Bama and Oregon game with my arms crossed (while on offense only) and drinking only water. Sounds crazy, I thought so too. I did it during alabama only because I went in the room to change "lucky" shirts and we had a big play, so I stayed in there. The game ended in success. I started the Oregon game off in the living room but quickly found myself arms-crossed standing in my bedroom like an idiot lol.

It's only crazy if it doesn't work. You're welcome Buckeye Nation.

I do not wear anything blue or yellow. I do not wear a jersey...for some reason they play poorly when I wear one...they win...but it's too close for comfort. I have to wear a black tOSU t-shirt.
If I am at home...I cannot sit down, and have to stand to the RIGHT side of the TV.

For the Alabama game, I was at a friend's house and had to move to a different room and go home and change to a different shirt after the poor start. They started doing well when I was eating carrot sticks with one hand and drinking beer in the other...standing in the same damn spot for the remainder of the game. The woman who brought the vegetable tray to the party decided to leave BEFORE THE GAME WAS OVER! Unfortunately I was rude to her and yelled...."Where do you think you are going with those carrots!!!" She looked at me as if I were insane. I looked back at her like WTF is wrong with you?!?!!?

*(She is my 8 year old special needs daughter's occupational therapist at her school, so I hope she doesn't hold that against her).....

She opened up the Tupperware container and I grabbed a handful to get me and the Buckeyes through the rest of the game. Luckily there was no shortage of beer.

I will never watch an OSU game at my other buddy Aaron's house ever again and he knows it....Loss to Florida, loss to LSU, loss to MSU in B1G championship game last year. Aaron's giant projection TV is only good for movies, but definitely NOT SPORTS!

I never wear anything that is predominately blue and yellow. Ever. You won't find anything in my house- clothes, decoration, anything at all, that is made up of those colors.

As far as superstitions go, not much really other than a #45 jersey and the block O "Woody"-style hat that I got while at OSU. It's got to be at least 25 years old now and still going strong. I expect to have it buried with me when I die.
