San Francisco - Things to do while there on business?

Magua

Buckeye
I'll be in Foster City (Flying in/out of San Fan) next week. Fly in Monday morning and leave Saturday afternoon. Tues-Thurs I'll be busy in meetings until 5pm or so, but I have all day Monday and all day Friday after 12pm to keep busy before flying out Saturday afternoon. Anyone have suggestions or recommendations on things to do while in the area? I've never been so any help would be appreciated!

I'm sure we have some locals that can give you a better advice.

I was able to pack most of the tourist stuff into about a day when I was there for business a few years ago. Your best bet would be to find a hotel near a BART station to make it easy to get into town. Eat at the Pier, see the bridge (traffic was a bitch on a Sunday afternoon), Palace of Fine Arts was cool to walk around (didn't go in), drive down Lombard St., ride a cable car. Would have liked to go to Alcatraz or see the redwoods, but didn't have time. I tried to go to Muir Woods, but it wasn't worth the price for the hour I would have had there. Wine country?

Spent most of my time in Sunnyvale and Fremont so that won't help. I had never been to the Pacific so I drove down the PCH until I found a beach and dipped my feet in.

Go visit Rice A Roni, it's the San Francisco treat or is that Miami.

Lots of blow

lots of hookers

a couple of meetings, work "win win scenario" into a speech without laughing

go home

One city is pretty much like the other for business trips imo

Fisherman's Wharf, Pier 39 and see the seals, and Ghirardelli Square for ice cream and chocolate, Alcatraz and the Coit Tower are all in the same general area. Market Street if what to do some shopping and if the Giants are in town AT&T Park...

Thanks guys. I'll definitely check out the Wharf and Market Street. Not sure if i'll have time to go do a tour like Alcatraz or something. I figure i'll just do a lot of drinking and see what happens. I know my buddy and his gf are taking me out to some nice restaurant Monday night but they leave for Cabo on Wednesday so fending for myself after that.

If it is drinking.....and you like good beer...the Toronado in the Haight is one of the best beer bars in the country (though it does come with a bit of attitude). Funky culture....City Lights Books in North Beach (a beat generation landmark) and for drinks the Vesuvio Cafe (another landmark) is nearby. North Beach is the old Italian neighborhood. The city itself is quite small and you can easily hit a bar in the Haight, North Beach, the Wharf and grab lunch in Chinatown. Great city to just wander in.

Lots of good ideas posted... Wingates post is pretty much what I would have said.. I really liked Alcatraz... If you have transportation, Sausalito has some of the neatest stuff you won't find anywhere else especially if you have a significant other or female kids

If you're going unattached... and a very tall honey comes on to you .. make sure it doesn't have a tail
