San Francisco - Things to do while there on business?

depends how ambitious you are. If you are stuck in Foster City, then you might as well go on 92 west to Half Moon Bay. Elegant over there, and up the road a bit are some great eateries. Good golf on the coast if you are a sticker. From there, you can go North up highway 1, which will take up the 'backroad' to the City. Make sure you stop at the Cliff House around 6, and get a seat facing the ocean, have the irish coffees, and watch a magnificent sunset, and watch the fog roll in. breathtaking. Work your way down to 19th avenue, and get off at the last exit, which will dump you off toward the Marina Green. Lots of pretty women, and walk along the shoreline to Fort Point (under the Golden Gate bridge). You'll have to take a few jogs, but Fisherman's Wharf is not to be missed (I still miss it). Ask where Scoma's is (it is tucked back about a half a block off of the main street) for great fish. Order the sand dabs or petrale sole, and you will let them know you're a 'native'. Back room is full of SF 49er memorabilia, and worth the look. If you're still hungry, grab a shrimp cocktail from one of the vendors and stroll along the wharf and watch the ferry head to Sausalito. For another day, Sausalito, Tiburon, the ferry to Angel Island, Alcatraz are all fun touristy things to do. Don't call it 'Frisco', but call it the City (or Paradise)......enjoy, especially if you're on the company's dime. Pick up a loaf of Boudin's sour dough to take home (or munch on the plane - probably won't last until you get home). Go Bucks

So I made my way into town this evening and did the Golden Gate Bridge stuff, went up to Vista Point, and then drove up the mountain to the various vantage points. Went down the other side to Sausalito area and just took in the amazing scenery. Traffic was a bitch going into the city up 101 and to 19th, but on the way back it wasn't bad. Friday I pretty much have the entire day so I am going to take the BART into the city and then either walk, taxi, or uber around. I want to check out Pier 39 and some other stuff around the city. Unfortunately you need to make Alcatraz reservations way ahead at the moment but next time I do come back my buddy said he would get us a tour ahead of time - he said it was one of his favorite things he did when he first moved here. I've been all around Foster City and San Matteo which are really nice areas. Went to restaurant called Vault in San Matteo the other night which was good and had some local IPAs.
