Too soon old, too late smart
depends how ambitious you are. If you are stuck in Foster City, then you might as well go on 92 west to Half Moon Bay. Elegant over there, and up the road a bit are some great eateries. Good golf on the coast if you are a sticker. From there, you can go North up highway 1, which will take up the 'backroad' to the City. Make sure you stop at the Cliff House around 6, and get a seat facing the ocean, have the irish coffees, and watch a magnificent sunset, and watch the fog roll in. breathtaking. Work your way down to 19th avenue, and get off at the last exit, which will dump you off toward the Marina Green. Lots of pretty women, and walk along the shoreline to Fort Point (under the Golden Gate bridge). You'll have to take a few jogs, but Fisherman's Wharf is not to be missed (I still miss it). Ask where Scoma's is (it is tucked back about a half a block off of the main street) for great fish. Order the sand dabs or petrale sole, and you will let them know you're a 'native'. Back room is full of SF 49er memorabilia, and worth the look. If you're still hungry, grab a shrimp cocktail from one of the vendors and stroll along the wharf and watch the ferry head to Sausalito. For another day, Sausalito, Tiburon, the ferry to Angel Island, Alcatraz are all fun touristy things to do. Don't call it 'Frisco', but call it the City (or Paradise)......enjoy, especially if you're on the company's dime. Pick up a loaf of Boudin's sour dough to take home (or munch on the plane - probably won't last until you get home). Go Bucks
