Game Thread San Diego State Aztecs at tOSU, Sep 7, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN2

They were 9-4 last year and were MWC West Division champs. If you want to talk about the worst team in college football, then that team plays their home games about 12 miles from my house...

Nah, Hawaii isn't the worst. They'd beat UNLV by two touchdowns. The Rebels are amazingly bad. And it's kind of crazy, because Bishop Gorman here in town is a perennial HS powerhouse. If I was running the show at UNLV, I'd have my best recruiter practically living there.

I have this "fear" of seeing a Gardner/Robinson situation late in the season if the injuries continue to be an issue.

I wouldn't worry about that. Braxton is a QB and is clearly meant to be a QB by his build and makeup. You won't see him being used as a RB or slotdot or anything else like what Fred Flintstone had to do last year with DEtard and his arm-punting skillzzzz.

We know Urban has a history of running a two QB system to success (albeit Leak/Tebow isn't perfectly analogous).

I think the best example of a two-QB system that works right now is Northwestern, but the skill sets there are not comparable to what we have in Kenny G and Braxton.

If Braxton can stay healthy, he's the starter. The question and answer is all about getting him healthy enough to play an entire game.

Braxton is a thoroughbred. Pure and simple.
Such highly tuned athletes are susceptible to tweaking things. It just how it is. We should all be counting our blessings that we have a backup as dedicated as Kenny Guiton.

Brax needs to drink more Gatorade though.

sflbuck: "I could not disagree more on the DL and LB"

guess I'm confused... my statements:
"DL..certainly not dominating
LBs are OK.. nothing spectacular yet"

Did you say something different?
you: "I don't think the front 7 are ready for an SEC type team"

I may have read too much disappointment into your post. My point was that the DL and LB have turned in a dominate type performance (SDSU with 99 yards and 1 of 9 on 3rd down conversions in the 1st half). Could we do this against Alabama? No, but the talent is there. I was really concerned about our front 7 going into this season. So far I am happy with there progress.

Jamal Marcus has been really close to getting to the QB a number of times on this drive. Looks really good just rushing the passer.

Marcus had a really good game against the Aztecs. He came from the DE position and cut inside the OT and made a nice tackle in the 4th Quarter with about 5 minutes left in the game. He has great instincts and good speed. I REALLY look forward to seeing him play this year. As he develops he could be a real difference maker.

After initial hit, that OT assumed Marcus was going outside.. and Marcus was a bullet to the inside... VERY impressive move

I think USA Today is taking the bit about "The band learned the routine in just 4 days" out of context. Both Jon Waters and scUM's band director were quoted in The Dispatch saying these programs are planned months in advance, with this game-show theme being conceived in March--though it does say the bands only learn their specific songs and steps the week of the performance.
