Game Thread San Diego State Aztecs at tOSU, Sep 7, 3:30 ET, ABC/ESPN2

SDSU has to be the worst team in CFB football, or OSU made them look silly. Kg played a great game.
They were 9-4 last year and were MWC West Division champs. If you want to talk about the worst team in college football, then that team plays their home games about 12 miles from my house...

Being this is 2013 which is the current football season, who said worst all time? What exactly can OSU take away from that game? Their starting QB could not complete a pass to a receiver if nobody was guarding them.

First let me say I thought you said worst in history, I just woke up and was without a cup of joe. That being said, why come here asking if a Buckeye opponent is the worst team in CFB 2013? Didn't beating the domers last night boost your confidence in your team enough that you can sleep at night?

My opinions.. but what do I know...
Braxton is obviously an amazing athlete
Guiton seems to have a total understanding of what is supposed to happen in every play.. cerebral... seems to seldom make a mistake
Zeke's timing with OL is not there.. either hits the hole too early or too late
Linsley is the glue.. the oil that makes that machine work

What is with these plays that involve a screen with two playmakers/WR next to each other and never seems to work because it just creates a logjam with defenders right there

Very obvious the WRs are looking over their shoulders at the backups... claw or sit.. like it

The DL is just not living up to the hype.. but maybe hype was too much.. young.. untested... certainly not dominating
LBs are OK.. nothing spectacular yet
Entire defense changes with Roby presence... he takes away half the field.. offenses want nothing to do with him... is there a better tackler than Roby?
Safety play was admirable

Still waiting for a 75 yard kick with 9 second hang time from Johnson.. he doesn't seem to have a follow thru ... leg seems to stop right after kick...

Team still seems be similar to last year.. not spectacular (yet).. but with a 'refuse to lose' .. which concerns me a bit.. cuz we don't have Zach Borens or Simons
General question... with the tons of substitutions that go on in a game... who is responsible for the specific substitutions... OC/DC? position coaches?

Maybe, maybe not. If Braxton can't stay on the field for a full game, what would you do if you're Meyer?

Braxton should be the starter. However, to maintain that spot, Braxton needs to stay in these games and perform.

It's nice to be able to even have this conversation. Last year it felt like a disaster in the making when he went down with a knee injury against Michigan State but they won and then with the whiplash thing against Purdue, Kenny G came in and won the game for them because he's steady and consistent.

Brax needs to stay on the field. Injuries happen and that sucks, and he can look like the best QB in human history in practice, but the games are what count and he has missed significant time in both of the games so far.
I would play the better player (Braxton) and be glad my backup could start at almost every other school in the country.

Why the Hate on Braxton, he's never missed a start..I love what Kenny G has done but there is a reason he hasn't started the last two years. I am amazed when fans including myself think we know more than what coaches see everyday in practice. BTW Urban I am available as a play caller.

It's not hate from me. more like worries about what appears to be a trend that has developed since his sophomore year....

Braxton is like a Roby
Teams have to alter everything they do when he is on the field

Guiton executes very well.. but the other team is not in total fear like they are with Braxton

Yes, but therein lies the conundrum.

Braxton is one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in college football- Guiton looks like he is better at running the offense (especially the read option, which is THE play in this offense) and distributing the ball to the other playmakers who have emerged since the beginning of last season.

Guiton is not a better player than Miller, not even close, but it sure looks like he is better at running the offense, especially at this point in the season.

I look forward to Miller proving me wrong, but if he can't stay on the field he can't show that he has mastered the offense as well.

If you don't read the unblocked DE properly there is an unblocked defender in your backfield on every single play. That can tend to disrupt your running game just a little bit.

This is spot on. Kenny might not be the threat that Braxton is, but it seems like another guy or two become more of a threat when he's on the field.

I am asking because I was stunned they were that bad, wanted a different view point. IMO that game did nothing to show what OSU could do or actually how good OSU really is this year.

Most who follow CFB knew Kenny was a very good QB, so I ask what else did we learn about OSU from that game?

I could not disagree more on the DL and LB. The run game has been non existent for both Buffalo and SDSU. Pressure was better yesterday (even with Washington out) because SDSU was a more traditional drop back passing team and was not just running 2 and 3 step drops. I think SDSU only had 1 first down in the first half. As far as LB's, Shazier is playing muck better and Grant has played with great intensity ( with a few mistakes here and there). I don't think the front 7 are ready for an SEC type team, but the talent is there and is they learn fro their experiences at the beginning of the season, they may be ready for an SEC type team by the end of the season.

Showed we don't need Braxton to execute a game plan......he just makes the gameplan much easier to execute. But you're right, we still don't know how good OSU is/can be
