He explained it all to me in PM's...we are afraid of debate and voted for Kerry.

That, folks, is what you are dealing with here....everytime I think we have seen the true depths of idiocy, a guy like CardiganSweater comes around.

Well then... I blame John Kerry!!!

But, then again, anyone who's ever visited the political forum already knows that. Now I can't decide if those post represents more blatant Kerry bashing or shameless post padding.

This is the only place I have ever been that can not take constructive critisism regarding a teams players or coaches. Criticism that includes viable reasoning. All of a sudden that is "trolling'? Its too bad. Its one thing to be a fan. Its another to be a fan that is "forced" to believe everything is ok when it is not.

I used to have one simple rule. That nothing be said on BP that you wouldn't say directly to the person you're talking about.

Unfortunately, there's a subset of tOSU fans that *would* and do say these same things to the players directly, knowing that they're effectively safe from an ass beating because of the level of discipline and scrutiny the various teams are under.

So that can't be my rule anymore.

The new rule is less simple, and calls for a lot more measurement on the part of the administrative staff. If any mod or admin feels that a post crosses into 'bashing' (and making unqualified and deliberately hostile and disparaging comments about our QB's IQ certainly meets that term), then we're going to err on the side of showing respect to the institution, players and coaches by deleting or editing it, and then educating you as to where the problem was.

Some may well feel that *anything* should be able to be said on forums like these. I agree. I think *anything* can be said, as long as it's said with a measure of tact and reason.

Come for discussion, come for debate, come to flat out argue. But don't come just to blow off steam and shit on people you've never met, all because you take a sport you don't play (and probably never have) way too seriously as a fan.

IMO, Buckeyeplanet is one of the most sane Buckeye forums on the web. You might find threads full of "the sky is falling" on other forums, but we do try to maintain a level of respect for the coaches and players. It's all in how the constructive criticism is given. "Constructive" criticism is given in a friendly manner designed to foster improvement. No namecalling, personal bashing, or offensive comments are considered constructive...those are insulting.

I'm not familiar with the issues that inspired this thread, but I urge you to reconsider the definition of constructive criticism and simply keep that in mind as you read and post further. :)

(ETA.... when I started this post there was only one reply... jeez guys!)

However there is a fine line, because I didnt bash any of the players, or any coaches directly, and I still was scolded :)

I am actually avoiding the football board because of this. As much as I said "ok cool, whatever, what's done is done", I still dont think I was in the wrong.

Mind you I am not defending what this guy said or did, or alot of others I have seen.
