Woody style eyeglass frames just a coincidence?

Page 695 is where the fun starts.
When I saw the Woody Hayes style eyeglasses, I knew he was a Buckeye!

Hmm. Play for a middle of the road SEC team and probably not have a chance to win a title over Bama, LSU, Florida, etc. Play for the best team in the B1G and get possibly a few title games and maybe only need to beat one SEC team a year to win the title. I'm shocked that he isn't a Vol.

Withers worked months getting to know safety Vonn Bell, who played football at Ridgeland (Ga.) High School, near the Tennessee border and Chattanooga. When Bell signed with OSU yesterday, Meyer credited Withers with the best start-to-finish recruiting job he has ever seen.

“It is the octopus approach: Surround him, wrap your tentacles around him and every person in his family, his coach, the people …” Meyer said.

Withers explained, “It’s about relationships, and you want to find out as much as you can, good or bad about a young man.”

So Withers got to know “Chris the barber” and became an expert on the best barbecue joints in southern Tennessee.

Oh. my. god.

I just skimmed over the Vonn Bell thread on VolNation starting from his announcement yesterday and I must say. Wow. The future of our nation is in serious trouble (more so than I already thought it to be). I am only 27 but having read some of that really worries me. Grown men throwing rage-filled temper tantrums over where a kid is going to school.

Makes me realize how great this board is all that much more...

I though this was pretty interesting.
Live on ESPNU, national top-50 recruit Vonn Bell is announcing his choice between Ohio State, Alabama and the home-state Tennessee Volunteers. When Bell puts on a Buckeyes hat, the Vandy war room roars. Getting him out of the SEC and away from the in-state rival Vols is a good thing.

"Enjoy the Big Ten!" someone in the room yells.

Bell had Vanderbilt on his list, but it was not among the favorites. Franklin knew that, so he tailored his message to Bell when he met with him.
"Let me tell you," Franklin said. "Ohio State would be a heck of a choice."

Later in the day, a prospect deciding between Ole Miss and Auburn chooses the Tigers, and that's well-received at Vandy also – the Commodores don't play Auburn again for six years.
Sometimes it's not who you get, but who your rivals don't get.

"That's a victory," Franklin says of Bell's decision. "That's a victory."

Not a surprise, it's been going on for over a hundred years. Fielding Yost would do whatever it took to steer a kid away from Notre Dame. 50 years later Woody returned the favor by recommending every Catholic kid with an interest in Michigan to consider going to the Irish instead. It's been suggested often that Tressel (and Fickell) would defer kids Ohio State could not (or would not) recruit to Dantonio.

Agreed, but my favorite comment is rather harmless, but made me

Bell was scared to play in the SEC.

Guess we'll find out how "scared" the Buckeyes are when Alabama players are laying face down, watching Jalin, James, Brax, Carlos, etc score.

Dude, it's Tennessee. :)

Spend some time in the Smoky Mountains and Ozarks and you'll see what I mean.

Scared to play in the SEC?

No.....scared to play for a team that has not won more than 7 games since 07

NorthWestern beat two SEC bowl teams both markedly better than UT...Its just too convenient to ignore the fact that its Bama and LSU...not Ole Miss, Tenn, Vandy, Miss St, Arkansas, UK etc etc
