S/LB Tyler Moeller (official thread)

If that's correct, it's horribly rough for Tyler and bad news all around. At least we know this is a kid who knows how to put the smackdown on adversity and work his way through it. Felt like he'd had his share already, though.

Before we freak out, that was posted by Dave Biddle from Bucknuts. I'll wait for a more credible source.

While it may prove true, I agree. But it still may prove true.

And Ray Small is ineligible for the 2009 season (according to Biddle and Bucknuts).

Hope Tyler can help the team at least from a knowledge standpoint and helping out the replacements, if indeed out.

How hurt is Moeller?

Ohio State nickel back Tyler Moeller was injured in the first quarter against Illinois, apparently suffering a torn muscle in his chest, but when he could return has become a bigger concern.

Two sources told The Dispatch's Tim May after the game that Moeller probably will miss significant time. In his postgame news conference, coach Jim Tressel said he did not know the severity of the injury. Moeller will undergo an MRI today.

This would be the latest health-related setback for Moeller, who sat out last season after he was involved in an altercation in a Florida restaurant while on vacation with his family. Another patron punched Moeller, and he suffered a head injury that required surgery and months of rehabilitation. He has been considering applying for an extra year of eligibility with the NCAA because of the medical hardship. Since his return, Moeller has stood out this season, being named the Big Ten defensive player of the week after the opener.

Its not that bad its only Barnett, Moeller(?) and Pryor(?). We will be fine. Time to coach up the young ones. Losing two starting safties could be big we will find out against Indiana, they can really throw the ball around. They may have the best wideouts in the Big 10. Look for lots of ball control power running...aka Tressel Ball. Get well soon Tyler. Go Bucks

Per Biddle @Bucknuts.....
http://bucknuts.com/index.php/Footb...eller-likely-out-for-season/menu-id-1346.html

Tyler Moeller was one of the elite performers on Ohio State's defense thus far this year, but the Cincinnati Colerain product can't catch a break. According to multiple sources, he will miss the rest of the season with a torn pectoral muscle. We have more on this breaking story.
Multiple sources have informed Bucknuts.com that Tyler Moeller will miss the rest of the season with an injury that he suffered against Illinois on Saturday.

A source told us soon after the Buckeyes' 24-13 win in Champaign that Moeller's injury was of the season-ending variety and we reported that on our message boards.

Since then, multiple sources have confirmed that Moeller does in fact have a ?significant injury? and will likely miss the rest of the year. They are saying it?s a muscle injury (perhaps a tear) and the medical staff will perform tests when they get back to Columbus.

Jeez, we have been absolutely plagued this season with injuries to our defense.

Well, I guess this is where those high school recruits earn their 4 and 5 star ranks, huh?

Moeller seems to be in the same boat as Mike D'Andrea a few years back. Mike was supposed to be THE elite Linebacker, better than Hawk and Carp, but he just kept getting hurt towards the beginning of every season.
