I am looking forward to seeing Coleman in action during the spring game....should be interesting considering all the open spots.

tressel tends to red shirt about half his incoming freshman. so i would agree.osugrad21 said:Kurt will definitely push for time at CB. I do not see him taking a RS next season.
Is our secondary that weak that we need to start a freshman at cb next year. I know KC is supposed to be an extrodinary defensive back but i think experience in the defensive backfield should outweigh that.
Sooo, what veteran so you suspect starts? Andre AMos will be a RS Freshman... he will proabbly start. Sirjo Welch is a little undersized IMO to be a fultime starter at corner now with the big WR's in upwards of 6'4-5". We should have 2 CBs that are 6'1" (Jenkins, Amos) and 2 Safeties that are 6'3"+ (Lyons, Mitchell).

One member of the 2006 recruiting class, linebacker Ross Homan of Coldwater, is enrolled and taking winter-quarter classes. Kurt Coleman (Clayton Northmont) and Chris Wells (Akron Garfield) plan to enroll for spring quarter.
All three are expected to participate in spring practice, which begins March 30.
From a Rivals update on 6/21:
Summary of quote: Iowa is recruiting Kurt as a FS but yOSU wants him as a CB.
7/26
Summary of quote: He will play CB and loves to play man defense and hit people. Kurt feels he can shut down anyone one-on-one.
10/27
Summary of quote: Coach beckman thinks Kurt can contribute at CB rigth away.
"Coach Beckman coaches the cornerbacks. He thinks I'll have a chance to play as a freshman."
If Tim Beckman and Paul Haynes see him as a natural corner, I will definitely agree with them. Safeties are good in open space...Kurt likes to man up and get physical. He sounds like a natural CB to me.
I realize the staff plans on playing him at corner but I just think he is more of a natural safety. Of course I'm no coach but he just looked very comfortable all year at safety and is a playmaker from the safety position.
