S Anderson Russell (official thread)

I know a couple of guys on the team, and I hear the same thing, to tell the truth. I have talked to some before, and most infamously, Brandon Maupin was an NCAA buddy of mine, but all of the guys I talk to mention 'Russ' as a kid who plays his ass off.

I wouldn't say this is super duper inside info, I don't normally ask that, but sometimes it comes up. Like "Anderson Russell killed me in practice yesterday, the SOB". I don't know how practice is going, because I'm not a badger (keep in mind, these guys are my friends, not my news sources), but hey, I hear what I hear. Don't know if he can play safety great yet, but I think he will see the field plenty on kick coverage, is my speculation.

Well Russell was a total sleeper in last years class, and was under the radar so there wasnt a lot of talk about him. Lets hope that if he does start that he plays very well. There is a lot of potential at the safety position so lets hope that they put that to good use.

How long before A. Russ takes one of the starting safety jobs?
I think the writing is already on the wall, it's just a matter of a short time.
I thought he would be an excellent running back, I'm glad I was wrong! :tongue2:

CFBNews Redshirt Freshman All-American Team

DB Andre Sexton, Oklahoma State – Sexton has wasted no time establishing a foothold in the Cowboy secondary, locking down the starting free safety job for this fall. He breaks well on the ball and is very sharp between the ear holes, indications he can someday develop into the quarterback of the OSU defensive backfield. Vanderbilt coaches love the presence and maturity of Ryan Hamilton, and have entrusted him with the free safety spot. Dorian Munroe had a nice spring for Florida, and has positioned himself to contend for playing time behind Kyle Jackson. Anderson Russell was not particularly heralded when he signed with Ohio State, but he flies around the field with reckless abandon and was one last spring’s most pleasant surprises.

Excellent read where Anderson describes the way the fans doubted his ability due to his lack of exposure from the recruiting services. Also, some teammates give big compliments and explain his nickname, "100 percent."
