With my years of experience diagnosing lower leg injuries as seen from a distance while watching television, I thought for sure he had blown another knee ligament. I'm ecstatic to be wrong!

OSU's Russell should be ready for Spartans

Just got back from a long day at work and this is the best news I've heard all day.

In a recent BN article, Helwagen said that if Laurinaitis is the glue of the LB'ers, Russell is the glue of the DB's. Couldn't agree more.

After seeing clips of that injury, I am pleasantly surprised that Tress thinks he is not going to "miss a beat." Normally it is one thing to suppose a player is going to be able to play a week later, but it is often another thing for him to get back up to true speed. I sure hope Tress is right on this one.

"I sprained my ankle in the second quarter of the Minnesota game. I did my best to fight threw it. I have really been working with the trainers and today my ankle has felt the best it has it a while."

I also took note of the Buckeyes' talented sophomore free safety, Anderson Russell. He finished the game with eight tackles (one behind the line of scrimmage) and one pass breakup. My favorite play of his (maybe only because I may not be the most observant fan, and was watching in the stadium so I didn't have the advantage of instant replay) was the tackle he made on Wisc's RB down near the endzone. I always love it when DBs can tackle running backs, especially in critical situations. (And if I remember right, he actually hit him and knocked him backwards.)

I've mentioned this before but I hope we send Anderson on a blitz or two. He's so good at getting in the backfield and making the tackle.
