Game Thread Rutgers @ Ohio State - 09/08/18, 3:30PM (BTN)

Think the defense locks it down a bit better in this one.

Sitkowski tossed 3 picks against Texas State (who has a pretty bad pass defense) he will also have our dline after him in this one which makes for something ugly.

As far as Rutgers defensively, who knows. Texas State's offense is garbage so not much to be known from a game against them.

Good secondary but front 7 shouldn't be much of a competition. Should give Haskins a better look though which is great ahead of TCU.

The Ohio State football team returned to the practice field on Tuesday, and for the first time in more than a month, their head coach was out there with them.

After practice, the players discussed Urban Meyer’s return and the season-opening win over Oregon State.

They also looked ahead to this weekend’s Big Ten opener against Rutgers.

Defensive end Jonathon Cooper, wide receivers K.J. Hill and Austin Mack, running back Mike Weber, and defensive tackle Dre’Mont Jones spoke with the media.

You can hear from them below.

Austin Mack

Two-Minute Drill: Rutgers’ Chris Ash — 9.4.18 B1G Teleconference

Chris-Ash-The-Difference.jpg

Rutgers head coach Chris Ash spent a few minutes on the Big Ten Coaches Teleconference on Tuesday. He spent that time talking about his team and the progress they hope to make this week. Ash knows this is going to be a significant challenge for his team. He also spent some time talking about the Buckeyes and the challenges that they present.

Chris Ash

+ “Feels good to be 1-0.”

+ Ash learned a lot about his team last week, but this week is a challenge against a great football team.

+ It remains to be seen how much better he feels about his competitiveness when it comes to Ohio State. He’ll know more after the game. He believes his team is better than it has been previously against the Buckeyes, but he’ll know much more after Saturday. “We’re just eager to go out and measure our improvement.” It will be a good measuring stick to see how much improvement they’ve made over his three seasons.

Just sayin': He won't be feeling nearly as good after the game this weekend.......:slappy:

Not much of a concern with this game but a little more anxious then I should be for our defense. Their quick back who's all purpose will be interesting given our struggles last week.

Swear to god if we have another 80 yard breakdown...I would rather win 42-7 than 63-24.

I want to see anything less than 17 (preferably below 13) to get our guys a little momentum going into TCU.

I see 59-10. Rutgers will have a couple good drives that result in points, but by and large the defense cleans up most of the mistakes it made Saturday. I think Haskins continues to light it up, leading the offense 38 to 45 points in the first half, with Martell running the show nearly the whole second half.

Networks are starting to crack down on streams which is a shame.

3 things in life I never pay for: Parking, online-taxes, and cable.
I refuse to pay for cable, as well, so I've relied on streaming to see cfb for several years. I thought quality streams linked on reddit were more plentiful and easier to use this past weekend than ever before.

There was one briefly scary encounter with a fake virus warning that tried to get me to call a number to save my computer, but knew it was bs and ignored it.

I agree. Im thinking 52-10. Rutgers defense is definitely better than oregon State's, albeit obviously not a "good defense." But unless I'm missing something, their offense is basically orergon State without Oregon State's one good receiver and running back. I'm not concerned about the defense yet, but if they give up 2+ big plays against rutgers....yea I'll at least start to be.

On offense, I want to see them start to go downfield a little bit more. They may be holding off on that until tcu though.

Re offense; you know, in a way when you think about it, Haskins accuracy serves to threaten the defense in a new way. They crowd the LOS with the safeties to stop the run and they have no one back to help when one of the receivers gets the ball on a quick pass, right on stride and right on his hands.

It's almost like getting the benefit of the deep ball threat (defense has to play back) without having to take the risk of the lower comp % passes.

Interested to see if defenses actually do start keeping S back.

Hell yes. Will check that out. Thanks.

NP....I'll prob re-post it on the game thread Sat morn. just to confirm it's up and I can get on there. There's these stupid little keys next to the games. But, once I signed in (via my parents subscription lol, I feel the same way as you about cable...) they all lifted. But FYI that app operates like your DVR if you don't record the next show. It blacked out right as OT was about to start. I had to rush to find it again on some kind of BTN2 network that said post-game news. Luckily, it was during commercial time.

If it doesn't work, there's always the entertainment of the whacked out streaming commercials. For some reason, we always got the game from different countries.

Never been able to do it on YouTube.... but never thought to check. I'd be afraid it'd just crap out in the middle due to copyright issues.

Here's hoping....

The broadcasters' voices on the youtube stream were unbearably altered in the LSU game on my end. That was the only youtube stream out of several I saw over the weekend.

Not even any type of cable that includes FOX? Not sure if it will work but the app had the BTN on it last week. If you have nothing, go for the regular streaming sites instead of YouTube. I've found Butterblog has lists of best streaming sites for Movies/TV and Sports.

I’m thinking of taking my kid up to the game from Charlotte. At what time, and what parking lot should I aim for to make the 1:10 p.m. skull session?
We like to park at the Church of Christ on Indianola and Norwich. It is a donation like $10 or $20 whatever works for you. It is right by Lane Avenue so it is an easy walk to campus. I usually figure your safe at 3 hours ahead of game time.
