Game Thread Rutgers @ Ohio State - 09/08/18, 3:30PM (BTN)

Dont get BTN. Will need to stream. That said, Knights about to get 10ft of jousting stick to the angus.

I recently discovered if you're a cable subscriber that supports any of the ESPN or FOX apps you can watch these random networks. Last year, we paid for BTN--dropped it this year. This week, I picked up the PSU/App State game on BTN via the Watch Fox Sports app for free. I guess they own BTN.

This is also true for ESPN, ESPN2, etc.. The tOSU game switched from ESPN to ESPNews after the delay on live TV (at least in FL). ESPNews is a pay service. But, I was able to watch the entire game on the same account while my family missed the end of the game on TV.

Not sure if this is an oversight, but might as well take advantage of it for now.

Just get Chromecast & cast the app right to the TV or hook your computer to the TV with an HDMI cord.

I'm assuming you know most of this & how to sign into these apps via your Comcast/Spectrum/AT&T, etc. subscription.

However, I just discovered BTN was available on the FOX app for free and wanted to put it out there.

Networks are starting to crack down on streams which is a shame.

3 things in life I never pay for: Parking, online-taxes, and cable.

See my post above. If you have even the most basic cable, I'd assume you could probably log into the Fox Sports one. Not sure tho. We have some kind of basic but it includes ESPN. If you don't have any type of cable, try getting a friend to let you log into their account for the Fox Sports app.

One thing about streaming are the hilarious British commercials. We did it all the time in 2014.

I think Oregon State's team speed was really under-rated. Their Pac-12 defense was not. Rutgers will be a laugher out of the tunnel.

Hell yes. Will check that out. Thanks.

Yep I think the other OSU will score some points this year. Not acceptable but IMO just a perfect storm.

1. Missing our best 2 in back 7.
2. Got up 49-7 and quit playing.
3. Long break at the half
4. Lots of new faces
5. Offense was scoring quick
6. The fair catch on the kickoff hurts

Not an excuse but I really do believe that if we get Fuller/Borland back we will be fine.

I’m thinking of taking my kid up to the game from Charlotte. At what time, and what parking lot should I aim for to make the 1:10 p.m. skull session?
I found the Agricultural Engineering building a few years ago. I like that one for distance to the stadium. We got there at 7:30 this weekend for the 12:00 game and it was a little over half full.

We’ll be leaving Sat. morning, so at 7:30 we should getting close to WVA.:slappy:
I think the soonest we can reasonably get to the campus area is 11 AM.
But I will look out for that building.

Edit: Found it

Ohio State releases depth chart for Big Ten opener against Rutgers

Jordan Fuller remains a starter, despite injury.

Thanks to a lopsided score, inclement weather, and high humidity, the Ohio State Buckeyes were able to get a large number of players into the season opening 77-31 win over the Oregon State Beavers.

Due to that experience, and a number of nagging injuries, there were a few adjustments to the two-deep depth chart heading into the Buckeyes’ Big Ten opener against the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Good decision making by Artur Sitkowski will be key against Ohio State

In the last two games versus the Buckeyes, the Scarlet Knights have been shutout.

For Rutgers Scarlet Knights quarterback Artur Sitkowski, the training wheels are being taken off in a hurry. After starting the Week 1 contest against Texas State, the freshman will have to lead his program against the Ohio State Buckeyes—a team that just hung 77 points on Oregon State.

Sitkowski has tall orders as the No. 1 signal-caller in New Brunswick, N.J., but if he can just score some points—any amount of points—this weekend, then he’ll already be making progress for the Scarlet Knights.

In the last two meetings versus Ohio State, Rutgers has been outscored 114-0. That’s right, in the last two meet-ups (one in Columbus, and one in Piscataway) the Scarlet Knights have found a way to not score any points. Make it the last three meetings, and they’ve been outscored 163-7.

Ohio State’s defense in Week 1 left more to be desired; long touchdown plays of the rushing and passing variety rocked the Buckeye defense on Saturday. If those miscues aren’t solved, or if safety Jordan Fuller is still out this week with a hamstring injury, then I’d imagine that Pass D is still not going to be up to “Defensive Back University” standards. This bodes well for Rutgers’ freshman QB, who made decent throws (and decisions) in his first career start last Saturday.

Breaking down some of his good passes against Texas State, Sitkowski is able to make tight throws. On a curl route in the redzone, he hit his target with three defenders collapsing in on the receiver. In another instance, Sitkowski stood in the pocket, and hit an open man crossing the field for a first down. Granted, these are just two plays against a team that comes nowhere close to what the Buckeye defense will bring this weekend, but if he’s able to make good throws—and make those throws to the right receiver—then it’s a huge step in the right direction for Rutgers.

The passing game will need to be a priority for the Scarlet Knights. You won’t be able to beat Ohio State with just the pass, but in order for a running game to get any resemblance of production, the aerial attack has to be established.

Now, a problem that Rutgers will be running up against is the fact that the Buckeyes’ pass rush is one of the best in the country. Between Nick Bosa, Dre’Mont Jones and Chase Young, there are three guys up front that will likely regularly bust through the offensive line. Sitkowski will not have a lot of time to make a decision on where to throw, so deep plays are going to be out of the question. Mid-range passes and screens are going to be how they move the ball via the pass on Saturday.
