rumor central and the cbj

its all pure speculation at this point.
i think anyone who says they are in the know is full of shit at this point.
30 more minutes and well know for sure. people are predicting a real flurry, but who knows.

the bertuzzi thing at this point is the only thing that is holding my full interest. seems to be he could be a hab? but who knows.

its for a push for an ahl championship. which is very possible. only 4 non injury roster momves can be made after the deadline. but personally if we bad aj and pas why should have sold of anyone and anything we werent going to resign this summer...

5minutes...

Is this what you're saying?:

If we are so bad that we are mailing it in for the rest of the season, why didn't we trade off everyone that was going to become a free agent this summer?

If so, I agree.

I really don't understand the Leclaire move. He's still young. I'd rather he play every other game in the NHL than every game in the AHL.

anson carter. obviously teams thrown out there include the nucks, but recently ive heard the ducks also a few times. likely they need a spark as the wheels have fallen off as of late. word is two of their targets are anson and jokinen of the panthers.

zherdev. not gonna happen. nope no nil zero zilch.

bb. interesting rumors but at this point nothing more

modin. "working on contract" ill fully believe it when the ink dries. id like to see him around, but if the offer is right hell be moved. or a sign and deal type of thing...

Columbus: Loaded with guys to go, including ex-Bruins Anson Carter and Bryan Berard. Rumor mill has Ducks after heavy-shooting Fredrik Modin. Biggest bids would come if the team parts with Nikolai Zherdev.

Columbus is prepared to sell almost anybody other than Rick Nash and Fredrik Modin, their only players worth keeping. Anson Carter and Bryan Berard are prospective rentals making $2.5 million. Sergei Fedorov could be had, but he's making $6 million this year and next. Adam Foote's slow feet don't justify his $4.6 million salary.

I wouldn't mind seeing Detroit pick up Berard, but that won't happen obviously.

I think Modin and Carter have one foot out the door. Honestly I can't imagine the CBJ wanting to keep someone like Modin who needs to be set up by another player to get his offense most of the time.

Carter has been a disappointment....I think everyone expected more. You still see flashes from him, but overall he hasn't played up to expectations.

If Hitchcock thinks Zherdev can be molded into his type of player, you absolutely do not trade him. Otherwise, a deal would make a certain amount of sense if they can trade for the right type of players.

i dont see them trading within the division unless the price is more than right.

this team needs a #1 center, i think theyll go out and sign one in free agency, dumping berard/carter will give you the kind of $ needed to do so. who it will eb i dont know drury or someone like that, some say briere but time will tell and see. honestly i really wouldnt be shocked to see a sign adn trade with mo... i dont know it just woudlnt suprise me (just a hunch no inside stuff)

carter was signed as an insurance policy. hes been the 4th wheel on different lines all year. he just doesnt really fit what you want to do with any of the lines and they way they mix just doesnt include carter. addition by subtraction. youve got a top six guy who doesnt go with columbus' top six. that being said hell be traded, its just a matter of the return. everyone know hes on the market dilluting his value. canucks or carolina at this point...

funny how hitch thought nash would be his project, nash bought in overnight, z has been a tough sell. its an intensity, consistency thing. though interestingly its not really his defense, it has more to do with z being z and turning the puck over and getting too cute and playing in the neutral zone as an individual. he wont be traded, unless someone is willing to pay through the nose for him. i dont see him being an impact with his neutral zone game, so i dont see it happening.

that being said, getting anything out of the people i know is much much more difficult since about mid nov. interesting to me, they used to just tell you know half the time you cant pry it from them...

COLUMBUS BLUEJACKETS

Pos. Name Cap Cost Pro-Rated Comments
F Nik Zherdev $2,500,000 $542,500 Plus two more years. No reason to make the deal now - won't get fair value
F Anson Carter $2,500,000 $542,500 Vancouver makes sense. Can't create offense but can certainly finish
F Fredrik Modin $2,204,000 $478,268 Scored 31 last year. Won the Cup with Tampa.
D Bryan Berard $2,500,000 $542,500 Good powerplay player but a defensive liability
D Anders Eriksson $600,000 $130,200 Really emerged as a solid defender this year - shockingly
D Duvie Westcott $500,000 $108,500 Veteran depth player
F David Vyborny $2,200,000 $477,400 Plus one more year - talented player. Columbus should hold onto him.

* What are the odds of Zherdev and Brule both scoring in the same game? And I swear I even saw Fedorov battling for a puck at the end of the game - I believe it was REM who once sang "I think I thought I saw you try"..
