That OSU let the B10 down? I missed that.....I didn't realize that MSU and UM getting totally routed was our issue.....

The way that these teams lost today reflects very badly on being conference CO-champions. What gets hidden today is that MSU didn't play Ohio State or that Ohio State walked into Camp Randall with injuries at virtually every position.

The commentators have the objective of reducing the power of the Big Ten and the Big Ten channel. PSU lost but were up entering the fourth quarter. All of the announcers kept saying what a terrible day it was, omitting that the Big Ten won its first two games and was ahead in a third. You would have thought that the SEC was undefeated.

Maybe Ohio State derives some good things out of a very bad day.

Steve I agree with what you are saying.

Still, I believe that if Wisconsin had gone with John Clay earlier and more often, then they win. In particular (4th Quarter) they should have used hte running game featuring Clay at the 9+ minute mark.

In summary, I blame the poor coaching / game planning of Bielema for this loss. You're facing a fast D sideline to sideline. The best way to overcome that speed is straight up the middle, between the tackles. The best type of back for that task is Clay - who was only featured belatedly, when Wisconsin was fighting a shrinking clock.

Very poor play calling by Wisconsin killed their chance of pulling victory out of TCU's grasp. The poor choices made in their penultimate drive are emblematic - but they were typical of the choices made throughout the game.

Steve and Sandgk all good things. I thought the same as you Sandgk that the up the gut stuff was working great and I think that Wiscy could have ran it all day long if they wanted to....The soft zone defense was very puzzling...

Let's give TCU some credit. They came into the game undefeated, ranked #3 in the country, and favored to win. What I saw was a game between two very good teams where one team made less mistakes and was better coached.

It's not like Wisconsin laid an egg. TCU came in allowing 215 TOTAL yards per game. Wisky got more than that just on the ground alone. It's too bad they missed the FG and inexplicably got away from running between the tackles in the second half.

But I'm pretty sure that most on this board have admitted that TCU has the talent to beat anyone on any given day. The argument against title game inclusion is that they didn't play a strong enough SOS to get there. Sure, the win would have been nice, but I don't think this game was a black eye for the conference, nor do I think it somehow changes the non-AQ narrative.

If only we could have switched Tolzien with McMoxie today. Though limited, Scott is good enough to cripple his team with 5 INTs, while if Wisky was stuck with McMoxie, they wouldn't have dared to throw the ball.

Woody Hayes: From every bad thing, you get a good thing.

Good things:

It should be clear to everyone that Ohio State cannot schedule such a weak SOS and hope to win a NC. The days when one could argue that "we have to make it through the toughest conference in America" are well and truly over.

Ohio State's players should be very much aware that they need to be focused in our bowl game.

If Ohio State wins, we get the "let the Big Ten down" monkey off our backs.

Focused yet distracted. A win here will send a message to all that doubt.

I watched a Wisky team do more to beat/outcoach themselves then TCU ever did.

Getting away from the strengths of your team. Poor play calling and a general lack of regard for the (painfully) obvious calls that we're in fact working. Shades of the 06' Florida game.

TCU wouldn't have been able to stop Ball or Clay all day. Hell, they didn't even slow Ball down - 132 yards, 22 carries at 6ypc. That's just getting it done. Good god, Clay was averaging 7ypc.

Why they didn't run through TCU, right over them, roughshod - grind them into nothing (much like they did to most of their competition) I blame solely on coaching & play calling.

All they had to do was pound, pound, Play fake and pound more. Tolzein should have thrown maybe 15 passes at most. A couple more shots on 1st down would have been intelligent too. At one point early on (when they got the big play to the fullback) you saw TCU crashing 9 into the box. Straight out committing to the run. Why? They knew early on they couldn't man on man beat the Badgers. Your average lineman was 50-60 lbs lighter then the Wisconsin offensive tackles.

The entire year Bucky had scores close at halftime, but kept pounding and making it ugly in the late 3rd/4th qtr. Commitment to the running game. More importantly the power run game. Not those stupid ass stretch plays that did next to nothing.

Why the lack of killer instinct? Why not feel the need to line up and say "I'm going to hurt you" ?

Brett flat out failed as a head coach today. I won't lie, it was quite amusing too. Regardless if it was a Big10 team in the Rose or not, I just can't stress how terrible this is going to be with a TCU victory now.
