Game Thread Rose Bowl, #8 tOSU vs #1 Oregon, Jan 1, 5:00 ET on ESPN

There's been some speculation that some teams are offering Smith a huge bag of money.

I'm sure teams are offering Smith a ton of money, probably more than OSU.
But, you can tell JJ is obsessed with improvement and competition...his latest interview had him talking about wanting to be pushed like Jordan and Kobe did....you ain't getting that at the schools that pay more, and he knows that. The 'iron sharpens iron' philosophy scares some guys away, but it also attracts the best.

I think there's such a huge impact when you have a true freshman compete and earn time like he has, but has the mentality of a 5th year senior. That rubs off and gets the freshman class ahead of schedule and the long term impacts of guys like him are invaluable.

Ok sounds good. But if he leaves for considerably more money I won’t be mad at him.

Klatt predicted us to win 42-41.

If we give up 41 points after wanting this rematch I will be severely surprised. Can they? Yeah sure.

But after how upset we were giving up 33 in their house (with the aid of an onside kick and a turnover both leading to touchdowns) I’d be pretty shocked if they hit 35.
I think we only have one game in our history that when we scored 35 points or more and lost. Unfortunately I was with my son in Miami watching Taj Boyd play pitch and catch with Sammy Watkins all game long. :smash:

Looks like it happened again against UGA 41-42.

Still like our odds if we score 35 or more ....
