Roman Polanksi Thoughts....

I wish I could say I was surprised by the reaction of Hollywood, but I'm not. This will prduce the usual outrage for a while, and then people will charge out to watch the next move that the director on the list directs and the actor/actress on the list is in. They live in their own little all-permissive fantasy world and can't for the life of them figure out why everyone else doesn't. No shock here.
And no shock when Buckeye fans react differently to misbehavior by a Seminole player, a Gator player, or (gasp) a Wolverine player than they do to similar actions by a Buckeye.

We all tend to see things differently when the actions are by someone we know and have affection for. It's human nature, not just a Hollywood thing IMO.

Gator - I guess you and I are overreacting to this news.

According to Whoppi Goldberg on "The View," he didn't commit "Rape-Rape"

Hot Air ? Blog Archive ? Video: Whoopi says Polanski didn?t commit ?rape-rape?
I guess I should've checked this forum before starting a thread elsewhere. These people make me sick. How does one's mind become so warped? I can understand debating whether or not he should still be pursued after all these years but the "is wasn't rape-rape" comment was way out there. How do high school drop outs like her (and Rush Limbaugh for that matter) get these gigs?

Handcuffs.... prison... period. No debate here.

Anyone that thinks he should be given leniency is blinded by their respect of the man in his profession and the person they think he is. You are defined by your actions. And he raped a 13-year-old.

Rapist. Send him to prison.

Ok - while a rock solid conviction of the rape of a child usually makes me wish for a much stronger punishment, at least we're agreed that he deserves to be punished for his actions.

But Legarrette Blount thinks he deserves a second chance! :tic:

And then you follow it up with this beauty. WTF?

Normally I would say "lock him up and through away the key"; however, in this case I think we should respect the victim's request.

Victim: Courts did more harm than Polanski
.
.
She is 45 now, and wishes the whole matter would just go away. The arrest of Roman Polanski in Switzerland over the weekend makes that highly unlikely. Geimer is back in the news in connection with the infamous 1977 California sex case, whether she likes it or not.
.
.
It should have ended three decades ago, when Polanski pleaded guilty to a single count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor. He would have been given credit for time served while undergoing an evaluation and placed on probation.
.
.
She sued him, and a settlement was reached out of court. But the media, prosecutors and the courts in Los Angeles, California, continue to torment her, she has said.
.
.
Every time the case resurfaces her wounds reopen.
.
.
She most recently spoke in January, as attempts to resolve the case once again failed. She filed court papers asking a Los Angeles judge to dismiss the charges against the Oscar-winning director.

Entire article: Victim: Courts did more harm than Polanski - CNN.com

script, i suspect this is an indictment of our media and judicial system and their mistreatment of victims rather than whether or not this scumbag should be punished.

child molesters and murderers both kill their victims. murderers at least have the decency of not dragging it out over 10's of years. he deserves a bullet to the head.

I believe I read where Polanski gave the victim $500K as a payoff... Great for the victim... but there's those little issues like rape of a child being a crime and last I checked, so is fleeing... so if we could just ignore those two minor points...
