Roger Goodell (official thread)

Smoking weed in Stage 3 is cool now? Duuude!

Testing at 16/ng and 13/ng when the new limits have been raised to 35 and the old limit is 15, when the retroactive date is 5 days away gets you 10 games, while dudes are beating the shit out of girls, and whipping a 4 year old's sack bloody with a tree branch, and they aren't sitting, it doesn't play well in the media.

No one I've seen is saying what Peterson or Rice or any of the other guys have done is excusable. In fact, a lot seem to think the NFL needed this policy long before these incidents.

That said, the NFL has had a well-established drug policy for quite a while. Gordon knew what he couldn't do and did exactly the opposite. He should be banned for being a fucking idiot by putting himself in the situation, not to mention the fact he still pissed hot.

That well established drug policy is now being changed, primarily because of josh Gordon's situation.

People have been going at the drug policy for years, and not because of Hash Gordon (who is still a fucking idiot) but because there was virtually no HGH testing and because some of them, like Ricky Williams, thought smoking weed was more important than playing football. Ray Lewis used recycled deer piss to repair his triceps in time for the Super Bowl. It is banned in the MLB and NHL, but not in the NFL and that was going to force a change too.

Hash Gordon is not the reason it's changing. This has been coming since the lockout a few years ago and has been an issue for quite a while beyond that.

Oh and you forgot Wes Welker in there too.

1. It was sawed off dear antlers.
2. The obscenely low pot threshold has been a sticking point for a long time. The NFL's level is more than 3 times lower than just about every profession. Josh Gordon's sampling issue was exactly the scenario needed.

3. It's not just pot levels and amphetamine categories changing, it's the entire testing procedure and appeal process.

4. Again, if the NFL suspends Gordon for 10 games under new penalties, while using old thresholds based on an arbitrary date, but take no action on McDonald, ap, and Hardy, you're going to see a shitstorm. In fact it's already starting.

5. At no point have I ever insinuated that josh Gordon isn't a total fucktard. I've merely pointed out the inevitable outrage that is likely to occur with the NFL's inconsistent doling out of punishment. How you've discerned that to be some defense of josh Gordon rather than indictment of goodells incompetence, in a goodell thread is puzzling.

Who cares? He was a double murderer who lied and got away with it.

And yet Gordon found a way to violate it anyway

Which was an issue long before Hash Gordon

And I and a lot of people agree with you. Doesn't excuse Hash Gordon from being an idiot.

What I've said is they are two entirely different scenarios. One has been a process outside of the NFL (i.e. Assault and Battery) while one has been drug testing administered directly by the NFL. I don't see the double standard because the NFL just didn't have a system for the first. And it's not just Goodell's incompetence, it was also Tagliabue's....

I've never once tried to make an excuse for Gordon's idiocy. Why you keep trying to infer than I am is puzzling. Secondly, the NFL has acted before the legal system has run its course many times, which is why the entire DUI process is going to be changed. And it's not like any of the guys I've mentioned have denied their actions at all.punishmente issue is the inconsistent manner in which goodell loves to dole out punishment and how the media has finally seen through his charade and are calling him on it.

Yeah no one is making excuses for Hash Gordon until you continue to do so. He knew the parameters of the program he was in and he still fucked up. That's not the program's fault. The punishments for another hot test were explicitly spelled out.

You'll have to show me where I made any excuse for him other than to say there would be more backlash if the other guys cited here got to play this week. Given the sponsors backing out and state governors throwing their two cents in, it seems the backlash has already begun.

You cited inconsistency and how other people are doing whatever. That's an excuse by trying to change the subject from Hash Gordon being a fuckwit and not staying clean in his program.

This isn't Gordon's first rodeo with the NFL trust testing program. He knew exactly what he couldn't be around, but yet choose to still be in those situations. If he didn't want to get suspended, he needed to be smarter. it isn't like he didn't know what another positive test would bring.

I think he should be suspended for the year. He knew the rules, yet still put himself and his team in the situation of missing the year. Just because other morons are doing far worse and stupider things doesn't excuse Hash Gordon from being ignoring the rules too.

So, you can't actually show me anything, just some gross misinterpretation of the post with little reading comprehension because you got your panties bunched for some reason. So, you may want to try again.

I'm pretty sure we all know why Browns fans are arguing the unfairness of Gordon's suspension...
