Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

RB(and actually anyone else who'd care to answer as well), who do you think is an underrated player that could do big things during his buckeye career? I know its a completely objective question, and actually pretty tough since our class is so highly rated. My money is on terry McLaren(run tmc) and/or Kyle trout. Trout seems like he has a great work ethic and will get the job done and won't be in headlines but will be consistent. And Terry is a extremely hard worker who I had the pleasure to watch on multiple occasions, and only got better doing anything his team needed of him, from switching to RB at times or being used as a decoy in games because opposing teams targeted him so much. And oh yeah, the kid is crazy fast. Sign me up for seeing a race between Devin smith, dontre Wilson, parris campbell, Curtis Samuel and mclaurin

Good question, I haven't given a whole lot of thought to it in awhile. My answer was Hubbard but now the sites have given him a bump for the most part. On the defensive side of the ball, I stand with Wade...Dylan Thompson is going to, at the very least, be a solid starter for us. However, I think he can be very, very good here either at SDE or DT. Hooker is certainly intriguing and has a huge ceiling...I don't see an immediate impact but he could develop into a great player for us.

On the offensive side of the ball, I have a harder time deciding on just one. I will throw out Marcelys Jones though. There has been some serious criticism of his play but he is strong as an ox, has a great frame with the right diet in mind, and has surprisingly quick feet. Effort has been questioned by some and there have been gaps in his consistency, but I think Warriner is going to iron that out. I also concur on Trout...still a 4 star but I have always liked Kyle...if he makes strides in his pass pro, he is going to be a heck of a tackle. My skilled position pick is also McLaurin...he received a bump with his senior campaign but not enough of one imo. Played great competition and answered any concerns on playing stiff...we knew the speed and hands were there, but he showed his wiggle this season. Not sure if McLaurin has an immediate impact (I think Samuel and Dixon have a good shot though), but he will develop into a big-time threat for us. Parris Campbell is intriguing to me and I think he has a ways to go but is obviously gifted. The only head-scratcher for me was Collier...I understand there are plenty of things to like with him but I always thought Barker was a much better prospect and a better fit to our program. Then again, I scratched my head on Guiton and that worked out just fine.

Special teams-wise, you have to remember we are counting on Nuernberger to take over the reigns for Basil. Hopefully he is ready because we will need him.

Ok ok, lol. I had to take a step back and laugh at all 3 of our lists. You know your class is on the very high end side, when were listing our underrated prospects as(per rivals):
Terry mclaurin- mr. Indiana
Kyle trout- top 10 in Ohio
Malik hooker- top 15 in PA
Dylan Thompson- top 15 in IL
Marcelys jones- top 15 in OH
Parris Campbell- top 15 in OH
Sean nuernberger- top 10 in kicker in entire class

This just shows how good this class is when you put it in perspective. This may be the class that starts something big for the buckeyes in the future.

Berger. Hard to say someone is underrated when he has a pretty high ranking but I don't think it's high enough and he is underrated with most on this board at least. With Booker and McMillan rated so high it's easy to forget him. I think Kyle is a total stud with the intangibles that make a great LB. He just gets it. I think he is someone, when we look back at the class in a few years makes the short list of players you immediately think of. It still shocks me how good the LB haul is this year and despite the competition I could see Kyle having more impact than anyone when his career is over.

It really is hard to pick someone when everyone in the class is so highly rated but I still think Thompson is being looked over.

My other pick is Parris Campbell...at cornerback.

Whoa, so you're predicting a possible position change. I never would have seen him on defense, I at first foresaw him as a hybrid, now I'm leaning towards RB. But didnt know about him playing CB. Figured wed have enough depth for now at CB

Just a total guess on my part but I would like to see Parris start out there and Marshon start out at WR.

Hmm, very interesting since I believe initially we were looking at marshon on offense then out ofb the blue he became an all American on defense and preferred to play at CB. I had at first envisioned him as what dontre is now

I'm with you on the Thompson part - he's not going to be a stats guy, but he'll do the dirty work and shed blockers which we could really use to help out the LB's. Always felt he could be the next Garett Goebel which isn't the 'sexy' pick but is the type of guy that makes the front 7 great.

I like that pick alot and for the same reasons. He didn't get a lot of talk because of his injury early on this season. He is going to be a guy that needs a lot of Coach Mick time but his instincts and technique are phenomenal...also, I don't think many know how good he is in coverage, he is a great athlete. He really had a great combine season and showed aside from strength, he really doesn't have many weaknesses.

My dark horse in this class is Hubbard as well. 6-4 frame and under a couple of bills the last time I saw his LAX stats. He's got a frame and a ton of athleticism and brains to boot.

I'd be lying through my teeth if I said that I hope he doesn't play LAX in the springs while in the 43210, but he could really be something special on the football field once he gets in the weight program.

Ok... I'll admit... I hope he picks up a stick in spring too. He's hands down the best LAX prospect in Ohio this year in my opinion, and I hope he gets to keep playing a game he clearly loves. He's got way too much talent to put that on a shelf... Great feet, fast, great burst, very good step down, hits the corners and can let it fly at 90+ MPH. Yeah, do want him as a LAXer, but if he doesn't... he's my choice for most underrated in this football class.

Its hard to consider him underrated when he's a 5star on scout and their best ranked prospect in the Midwest. ThThat's how sick our class is

The rich get richer: SEC dominates Rivals100 recruiting rankings

We’re still over two weeks from signing day, and there are still plenty of players yet to commit and others who will flip their existing verbal commits to other schools.
But there won’t be enough movement to dethrone the SEC from reigning over another set of recruiting rankings. A popping 38 players have verbally committed to SEC schools on the Rivals100 released Monday, far outpacing any other conference. Here’s the breakdown:

SEC: 38
ACC: 12
Big Ten: 12
Pac 12: 9Big 12: 5
Notre Dame: 4
Mountain West: 1
Uncommitted: 19

Ohio State makes up for 75 percent of the Big Ten’s commits on here, while it’s surprising to see the Pac 12 faring so poorly (though coaching changes at USC and Washington likely dinged their showing).
