Rivalries and Conferences (Split from LSU v. OSU Offensive Personnel Thread)

Hense why the 2006 game had its own countdown on ESPN and covered on one of America's largest networks. - I havent seen one SEC game this year (including the CG) garner that much attention yet. That includes the LSU-Florida game.

This years game, while not as big; still had a production from HBO, and about half a dozen articles on 3 major sports sites about the rivalry. - still havent seen anything close to that scale coming from down south.

edit: to be objective though, the Auburn-Bama game is nuts; those people are insane, I have no doubt.

It gets that type of noteriety becuase of the history of the game. The BCS has helped level some of the anti-south bias in the mainstream press. The reason I say it is not as good a game anymore is more a function of Michigan's horrible program than OSU.

Good God, I'm all for scUM bashing, but they were #2 going into last years game and would have gone to the BCS title game had they won. They've been to 3 BCS Bowls in the past 5 years. Would you just stop already? Fuck! :smash:

#2 Michigan last year was a paper tiger and was like the 50 year old starlet trying to get by on her looks. They get to go to BCS bowls becaus they are Michigan, not becuase they have had a good team for the past few years. They have lost their last 4 bowl apperances including 3 BCS bowls.. It is just a given that OSU is going to hand Michigan its ass every year, now that might change with RR coming ot UM...

BTW, watched "Fields of Glory" last night on Ohio State. It was pretty kewl and your stadium is very nice looking. I would love to ride up and see it one day...

Wow, thanks for showing your ignorance regarding the rivalry.

If you knew anything about Ohio State Michigan or anything about college football outside of the SEC in general, you might not be saying this garbage....

Here is what I know about college football outside the SEC. The top dogs are Oklahoma, USC, Ohio State, Michigan and ND. OSU/Michigan have the greates history and rivalry but over the past 4 to 5 years Michigan has been a paper tiger. OSU won the NC 2002 against a very good Miami team. The BCS was constructed to take the "opinion" out of college football and when they finally got the formula right, people cried becuase one of the darlings, USC, was not selected over an SEC team. Teams with the easist path to the NC game are USC, OK and Ohio State becuase their SOS has not panned out in recent years. Becuase of that fact in 2004 the formula was changed to give more weight to the "opinion" of the polls. That year and UNDEFEATED SEC team did not get a shot at the NC game becuase of the popularity contest of people wanting to see USC vs. Oklahoma...

In my opinion the conferences are rated:

1. SEC
2. Big 12
3. Big 10
4. Pac 10
5. ACC

The elites this year in those conferences are basically EQUAL in talent and speed. They just all play different styles of football. I think history is great and truly enjoyed learning about OSU, but Michigan has not been good for a while. OSU is the class of the Big 10 and have been for a while...

There's that ignorance again. Last year tOSU played 3 #2 ranked teams. In 2005 we played eventual National Champion Texas and #3 Penn State. Really, do you realize what a fool you're making of yourself?
