Calling Hours To Be Held Today For Stefanie Spielman
Monday, November 23, 2009
COLUMBUS, Ohio — Public calling hours will be held Monday for Stefanie Spielman, who died last week after an 11-year battle with breast cancer.
The public can pay respects from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Longaberger Alumni House on Olentangy River Road.
Spielman, the wife of ex-Buckeye and NFL linebacker Chris Spielman, waged a public battle against breast cancer after she was diagnosed with the disease in 1998.
She and her husband worked tirelessly to raise breast cancer awareness and to form Stefanie's Champions, which raised millions of dollars for Ohio State's James Cancer Hospital.
Ohio State football players and coaches paid tribute to Spielman on Saturday in their game against the University of Michigan.
A sticker, with Spielman's initials and a pink Buckeye leaf, was placed on each player's helmet. Coach Jim Tressel wore the sticker on his signature sweater vest.
