Ridiculously Early 2009 Poll

They also spelled Danny Herron's last name "Heron". Were they doing that on purpose? I mean, seriously?

Florida's returning all 11 starters on D and 'Bama's returning 9 of 11 on D (before early declarations, of course). I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Did anyone notice the schedule at the bottom of the page? We open with Navy, play IL very early in the season, and play Toledo @ Cleveland. The home game with USC may define our season, as it pretty much did this year.
Although with perenial bowl Navy, it'll at least give us some better practice than YSU and Ohio I would believe... and maybe a little more credibility to the schedule in the douchebag masses.

I think they've got us a bit too high, but I could be wrong. The defense is definitely going to have some drop off due to graduation, and the offense figures to drop a little too.

Am I the only one who thinks 'Bama is a bit high? Aren't they going to be starting an underclassman at QB next year, in addition to losing some serious talent on the offensive line. They should be BAMFs on defense, but how are they going to score?

Penn State in the top ten makes no sense. They are looking at a FR quarterback. I think Alabama's lack of offense catches up to them next season, and they'll drop a couple of games that they managed to win this year.
I'z a slow typer

If Florida loses Tebow and Harvin, I think they'll suffer a much bigger drop-off than most are expecting.

PSU will go back to being above average. I think Ole Miss loses some major talent on both lines. Not sure why they're so high. Iowa at #15 when they get tOSU back on the schedule and lose their best players(Greene and King)? I like cfn but that poll is dogshit.

Bradford is a Sophomore this year... I don't think he'll be able to go to the NFL until after next year unless he can go as a Sophomore instead of his Junior year?
class is irrelevant, separation from high school is all that matters. He's a redshirt sophomore and began his eligibility with beanie wells.

I don't think the defense will struggle what so ever. If anything we should once again be stronger up front, and although MJ leaves the secondary should be among the best in the nation as well. Sure we have to replace Jenkins, Animal, and Freeman however I think we have some linebackers who can step in.

We're looking at Sabino, Hines, Rolle, Spitler, Moeller all being capable starters. I personally think Spitler steps in and has a huge year. I've always thought Spitler was one of our most Physical players and if we didn't play Nickle so much I think he would be in the game much more to give Animal a break. So we then have one spot to fill in with Spitler/Homan as starters IMO. I personally would love to see Tyler Moeller out there running around because he's simply just too good at blitzing. Not to mention his cover skills as an OLB would be tremendous as well. The fact that we'll have Cam/Doug/Denlinger/Goeble,and Larimore at DT should really help those young LB's out.

On offense another off season for Pryor to work can only do our offense some good. I hate to say it but maybe graduating some of our offense will end up making us a better team? I love Robo but the thought of Pose and Thomas getting more reps really would give this team an extra demension that perhaps we have been missing? I think the person to look out for is Carlos Hyde (pending he signs) because his video was IMO one of the most impressive i've seen for a while. We'll need that big back presense and I think Carlos can do that ala Beanie from 06'.

Although USC returns a crap load of offensive talent (4 starting olineman and alot of their running back stable) they do lose two very good recievers and they lose 10 starters on defense. If we beat USC we then can turn all attention to PSU, and with PSU losing all their recievers we'll be out head hunting that night. All in all next year we could be a very very dangerous team and I for one think #7 or whatever would be a good start for the bucks in 09'
