I'm sure this will be a ridiculously unpopular opinion, but I think Majerus is a hell of a nice guy, and great for kids in general, but I think he was overrated as a coach. He had some good teams, but I see him like a Glen Mason, who is also a nice guy, but I don't think could ever take an elite program (or an elite athletic school like USC) and turn them into a dynasty. He was good beating up on the Mountain West, and his teams made a few good tournament runs, but I don't think it's a huge loss for USC on the hardwood. Again I reiterate, he's a great man,and a fine mentor, and in that regard they are losing out.
However, it also exposes a double standard, because if Bobby Knight or some less popular coach (Rick Barnes) would have done this, the media would be slaying them, and Majerus is getting a free pass, health problems or not.
